FUCK YOU! (320)
So I'm going abroad in October and have decided to purchase a fast prime lens to take about with me at night time and when I wonder the streets (not like that, you dirty minded people!), whether it be day or night.

I was looking at the Canon 50mm F/1.4 at first, but even though it is a great little lens, it just wouldn't work for me as I have a cropped sensor of 1.6x, so it would be 80mm instead. After that I started to look at the Canon 35mm F/2.0 and the Sigma 30mm F/1.4, both given mixed reviews, but unfortunately both of them having some very soft borders, even on a cropped sensor. The Canon version even came out worse.

After much time scratching my head on what to get to suit my needs in this particular situation, I have decided there are 2 lenses I am going to choose from, much with the persistence of a friend telling me to just say sod it and for an L-Series lens.

These are . . .

The Canon EF 24mm f1.4L II USM and the Canon EF 35mm f1.4L USM - both of them will be perfect with the 1.6x crop.

The question is, which one?

I've gone for the Canon EF 24mm F/1.4L II. It was a tough choice between that and the Canon 35mm F/1.4L, but I decided to go with the 24mm purely because one site gave it a massive price drop. Why, I don't know, but I grabbed it whilst I had the chance!

My next prime lens is going to have to be a telephoto for some candid shots when out and about!

Now I've just got to wait until my camera returns to me!

I've still got loads to buy before I go abroad.

A new camera bag.

A 77mm UV filter.

2 x CF cards.

Nothing comes cheap either. :(

You'll never believe this! I had an e-mail today from the company I ordered the lens from and they said a virus got into their system which changed all the prices, and the lens I thought they'd dropped by £400 had not dropped at all and they had refunded the money back into my account.

I saw this video on Dvorak and thought it was quite interesting and deserved a special spot on SPA. I miss my Minolta X370 and my lenses. Borrowed it to my brother and it was all rusted and froze up when I got it bag, having discovered it under his seat in his truck one -40 winter day.
