SMP OP+ GUIDE

This guide will not be a hard and fast outline as to the commands you have at your disposal but rather a guide as to how we (the game management and SpA management) would expect you to behave.

As an admin in SMP you're main duties are to help players, moderate the game and the in game chat.

You are required to follow all the same rules as every other player on the server, read the rules and familiarise yourself with them.

You are asked to respond to player requests for help, keep an eye out for queries that newer players may not have answers to, often this can be dealt with by simply directing the player to the forums. If not it may take a few minutes out of your game time but in the end its this action that grows our community.

Keep an eye out for potential abuse, if you spot a building or area that looks like it's come under the attention of a griefer; if possible work out who did the damage and whose build has come under attack settle these in game or on the forum often these situations are mistakes and can be dealt with.

Do not expect another admin to deal with it, You are the admin the responsibility stops with you, you won't deal with it all and we don't expect you to but not dealing with things because there are other or higher ranked admins on is simply not good enough deal with everything you can and pass a problem up the chain.

Dealing with Players
Some basic Special Attack rules:

English in chat, we are an international community and as such we like to stick with English as a common language (This is mostly to placate native English speakers who have no ability with any other language)

Swearing, we are also a more mature gaming community and as such are more tolerant of swearing, no warnings, no kicks. If however the swearing is directed at another player with malicious intent feel free to warn.

Racism, An absolute no. follow the procedure for problem players.

Problem Players, Players trolling, griefing, chat spamming and otherwise harassing other players are under your remit to deal with. You have at your disposal these commands:

mute
kick
ban

YOU ARE NOT PERMITED TO USE THESE COMMANDS UNLESS THERE IS AN EMERGENCY.
Before using any of these commands you must be familiar with the Ban dispute process. Also communicating with fellow admins and other gamers about problems is vital, do this via /msg, /admis! and mumble

In the event of an emergency. Identify offending parties, and what's happening, warn that player and wait for a response. If no response is forthcoming or the response is abusive and depending on the offense your next course of action will be one of either two routes if the abuse is chat spam please then mute. Or if the abuse was game based you can then kick the player YOU MUST GIVE A REASON this will show in the players client and get the message across.

The player may then return if the player's behaviour is now consistent with the SpA server no further action need be taken, however remain vigilant of these players when the abuse was intended and not a misunderstanding, they will most likely repeat this behaviour. If the players behaviour has not changed warn again, and then as a last resort ban the player. THIS IS A LAST RESORT ONLY.

Some players choose to try and circumvent the ban by changing account if you are sure this has happened the Ban by IP however you better be damn sure you 're right with this one... this IS BEYOND A LAST RESORT.

Do not use these commands on other Admins (or if you are forced to you better have damn good reason.)

Admins who are found to have not followed these rules will be demoted without recourse.[/quote]
