Hello there SpAites,

An idea was raised within the community on a lack of map varitiy on our servers, and we have now decided to adress this issue..by bringing in some new maps. Custom maps at that. You know those things that valve haven't added to the game yet, even though they are badass and all round cool. Yeah...Mario_Kart needs to be placed on all servers.

Don't worry we have a selection of maps that we need the community to help us test, all of them keeping in the feel of TF2, so none of these damned Achivement maps, or idle maps. We will be rolling these tests out over the next week or so and would love your feedback on which ones to keep and which ones to disgarded like a whore.

Just to tease people with a list of names, heres the 16 maps that will be tested over the comming days:

cp_copperhead
ctf_turbine_pro
pl_cashworks
cp_furance
cp_process
cp_science
pl_waste
cp_croissant
cp_lushbowl
ctf_cloudburst
pl_morrigan_alley
cp_relay
cp_snakewater
cp_warmfront
pl_halfacre

Feel free to pre-download these maps if you can't be arsed to wait on the day. Testing will begin sometime this week, highly likely on a wednesday. If your interested in helping just say here and i will invite you to a game when testing shall begin.

Phase One: Thursday 15th September 2011, 8pm CET

Phase Two : Friday 16th September 2011, 8pm CET

Phase Four: Sunday 18th September 2011, 8pm CET

All the phases will most likely take place on the Tux server. Anyone who is interested just joined then and place your feedback here. Hopefully by next week we will have 4 new maps placed in the SpA Points menu for you too choose. :)

Great idea. But let me give you one hint: People are lazy or have bad intenret and loading a map while they want to play is likely to result in a disconnect. You could compile a zip file with all the maps you want to test and host it here. Yes I am included in this list ;)

So those are the maps we currently have... There's only one CTF, not a single KOTH, or PLR... Maybe have some of those?

Maybe some arena maps too? There are plenty... (these are all core maps, I believe... No download necessary.)

Pete, those maps are already able to be brought by SpA Points so theres no need to test them. They can be played. So hence why we are testing these. :P

Those boxed containers in the corner don't make a lot of sense, unless they are to encourage door camping. If it is so, put a small ammo and health pack up there as well. :mrgreen:

CP_Science = worth testing with a full server! i love this map, but it can get confusing, which might be it's downfall

cp_copperhead = pretty crap, and i doubt people will like it

cp_furnace = i liked this map, like a faster pace gravelpit, should be interesting to see

cp_relay = bad layout wasn't really impressed by it, doubt pubbers would like it much

cp_cashworks = yes, lets do it, test it with a bigger group

cp_warmfront - played in 6v6 pretty good, not sure its really worth it though, people arent big fans of coldfront

cp_lushbowl = not many geometry changes, was okay, just a reskin really but worth trying it out

ctf_turbine_pro = played in 6v6, much better than the normal one!

cp_clocktower = awesome, lets try it!

pl_halfacre = quite fun actually, we should give it a go with more people, needs more testing

Downloading the maps, will hopefully be able to put them up somewhere for the lazy. :)

Hope I don't get the annoying "couldn't crc map" error, which has happened many times before.

I'm guessing there's no real need to check them, because Saint took them straight from the server. :)
So by definition, they should be the same things that everybody else can download through the tf2 client.

But better to make sure yep. :)
