I've only been playing for almost a year so I'll probably get Bronze

EDIT: I just checked when I bought the Orange Box and it was September 2008 so that's not almost a year at all FAIL
I'll probably still get the Bronze even so

I think it's interesting to see that gold and silver are far more common than bronze - shows that people that started it from the beginning stuck with it the whole time and people that got it later abandoned it again (or that the game simply doesn't sell as much anymore

)

EDIT: it kind of sucks that, people who bought the game yesterday get a stinking medal... they keep doing this with certain updates and making them pointless because they aren't rare or special...

I got gold. I tried for about 20 minutes to play as engineer, but didn't understand what to do and didn't play again until some time after the Scout Update and since then I've been playing regularly.

It was pretty similar for me. I was playing css mainly back then and only started tf2 once to see what it's like.
I joined a random public with dustbowl on it, went out of spawn just to see a heavy coming towards me trying to melee me. Ofc at that point I didn't know that there's no friendly fire so I ran away, which probably made me look like a spy so several people from my team started running at me

I then doomed the game as "full of noobs" to go back to css, get sick of it, start tf2 again a few months later (I think just a few weeks before they shipped in the goldrush update) and fall in love with it.
