I'm 23 years old and from Sweden. I found out about you guys through my old friend [SpA]Toresson. I've been on the mumble server a bit, and you guys seem to be on the same page as me :)

I'm a 3d artist/retoucher and I currently live in Boden, way up north. I've worked with feature film, video games and right now, I work with ads and that kind of stuff, and have been doing so for about three years. I have my own company with my friend up here right now.

I play the guitar, rock band drums (if that counts), L4D2 and BF2 mainly.

Anyways.. hello!

Good to hear! :)
Of course!
My (not so updated) portfolio is found at www.patriklindkvist.com
Will be a massive update this summer though... but NDA's and stuff stops me from putting the latest stuff up.

Hey, I used to do a bit of that myself, but I couldn't be bothered with learning to texture properly so never really grew out of the fooling around phase.

Nice dishwasher

Haha too bad, I think that's one of the best parts! :)

Haha yeah.. I was on a huuge project with only dishwashers.... around 60 images or something.. not really the dream but hey, I got the "massive bonus" of seeing brushed stainless steel everytime I close my eyes..

Oh god I hate working on 3D for too long, when I close my eyes I see vertexes, and wireframes spinning and warping

I'm fully taking you up on that, i upgraded to max 2010 on sunday and it scared me alot cause the interface is alot different to 2009... and also i havent modelled in ages so i forgot all the tools :<

You should totally go back to 2009.. :P it's a lot more solid. 2010 is just a load of buggy new features... or if you can, get 2011, it's better than 2010 although 2009 is still my favorite release. 2012 seems promising, but they always do.. until you try ;)

My final advice is: Go with 2009 but add the plug-in polyboost. Then you pretty much have 2010 but stable, although without the very unfinished viewport rendering.

Same thing as "ribbon" in 2010-2011. Autodesk bought polyboost and integrated it in their "own" (less awesome) way.

Yeah you can do everything with that too, so that should be OK. Only in a limited time as you know.
It's repulsively expensive :/ Although there are cheaper, yet great options, such as Modo :)

Hello! And hell yes, there is no doubt in the world that rock band drums count. Those things are irrefutable.

@Ivanosaurus:
Yeah! They are a serious challenge.

@ProtectMybawls: Yes they are great! The biggest advantage when it comes to Modo is that it isn't 20 years old like the other dinosaurs.. they have created it in "modern times" and they don't have to think about a million legacy-features and so on and so forth. Although, the other ones are pretty good as well of course ;)

That is correct my good sir! On that very day, beer was the last thing I wanted ;) [SpA]Toresson can vouch for that.

I wanted beer that day. Just not for breakfast... We had a fucking insane tour via some bars (clothed in kimonos. Just. kimonos) and ended up on a texas longhorn resturant for burgers and milk...
