Yes, which is bad in itself. The fact it makes you lose the server slot only makes it worse.

@Zenergy
The Limited Edition but I don't see how this would matter. There's nothing really different in it.

edit.
Wait, actually I've just noticed there are servers with 1000-2000 tickets per team. This may actually be the only way I could get myself to play it at his moment. More tickets means less map changes. :D

So it is only crashing on load? I had that problem too, but it got fixed with my recent hardware upgrade (not suggesting you do this) but there must be a reason behind it because I know other people who have older hardware and it doesn't crash on load :<

anything on the forums?

It's not a crash. It's the game stuck on loading screen without doing anything. The crash only happens on game start-up.

I'm sure it's related to software: drivers, codecs..something, because nVIDIA users are most affected, but there's no way in hell I'm going to buy a new gpu just because they couldn't be arsed to QA the game properly.

Yeah i was having the same crash on my nvidia card, happened every other loading screen. But yeah, you shouldn't have to buy anything to play the game really; has ATI said anything on their forums?

I'm using an ATI card. The crashes I experience is that the game is blackscreening during mapchanges or joining a game, so you have to force quit the game and try again.

Yeah, it's the same one Saint. Though I did not know ATI users get it as well. Have you updated the drivers to the latest recommended? I know ATI released a new version for them last week.

I didn't update my drivers because the last release didn't mention anything Bf3 related. I'll give it a shot though!

Crashes here as well. ATI card. Just tried updating it to Catalyst 11.10, no difference. Always crashes when you boot up the game on start while it occasionally crashes during matches also. Think I'm done with this game at the moment until these DICE fucktards get their thumbs out of their asses and fix this turd. Frustrates the shit out of me not only because it crashes but also because you lose all your unlocks during a match if it so happens to CTD.

That sucks that a game cannot be versatile enough on any card. I think EA should pull their head out of their arses and get the game on steam and stop fucking around and fix the game so that it doesn't crash no matter what peripherals and software you use.

While they are pushing with Origin there's no way any EA product will be sold on Steam anymore. And they'll probably push for other exclusives as well since this is pretty much their only way of fighting with Steam.

Otherwise, the game was not tested on PC. Well, not tested thoroughly. Their Q&A process was shit and it's even more annoying because there's no problems on the console versions. Then again this is EA, they are notorious for rushing everything and delivering buggy crap. Funny thing how Origin, which is in Beta, is required, ain't it?

If their defence, pc testing is very difficult and not always perfect when you imagine the amount of variables and consider how they might react; in comparison to console testing. Most devs will send their games to the major gpu manufactures who will do a lot of hardware testing for you.

I won't ever defend the use of origin though, what a load of bs.

That would be reasonable Balls, but DICE and EA are BIG companies. They can afford the testing, it's just that they didn't want to take the time for it.

It's a new engine so it was always going to have bugs when shipped. But we're not talking about the occasional crash or glitch here, we're talking about most of the customers crashing constantly which is ridiculous.

Very good point as well, EA would have been focusing most of their QA effort on the consoles, because patching those is expensive.
Tbh im suprised about the card issues because AAA titles normally get shoved on ATI and nvidia for testing normally a few milestones before submission.

Well, they probably did. I mean, we have drivers tailored for the engine. But I doubt the gpu guys do anything more than optimize performance and maybe signal issues they may find.

The thing is that Beta testing a few weeks before release is stupid because that doesn't leave you enough time to fix anything serious. Beta testing a different build other than the one which you plan on shipping is..well..look where we are.

Since the beta quite a few things have been fixed: almost all the graphical glitches are gone and the netcode is definitely better. But during the beta I never crashed and I don't think many people did. But now we do, so let's sit down and do the math!

The things people are finding to be causing crashes are utterly amazing: Asus OSD and Spy Bot Search&Destroy just to name a few. These were on the people's computers during the beta as well and that was not an issue. So let me go on a limb here and say that the version that was actually shipped was not tested for fuck'all other than basic Q&A scripts.

Any ideas folks:

about every 10 minutes i get disconnected during a game with the error 'Connection to the server has failed'... this happens DURING a game (not on map change).

Ive run PBsetup and BF3 is up to date and ive run Nvidia driver check and those are up to date too.

Using a 285GTX card and standard version of the game

its such a shame, because its happened so often now ive basically given up playing until i can be pointed towards a proper fix. Its hard to get enthusastic about a game when every time i play i get D/C when i start having fun and lose all my points and unlocks.

I don't know if your game times out, but that link is what Origin offers for help on that problem. It shouldnt matter but you can try to open your ports. They are here: http://bit.ly/sdMEcL

Me and Anna noticed we are crashing mid game for the first time since release, it either soft locks or hangs, which is really annoying when you have a butt load of xp.

A big thank you to Balls and Bam... i think im sorted now after doing some port forwarding (crashed ONCE since forwarding ports, whereas i was crashing without fail every 10 minutes before)

thanks again guys, and if anyone else has crashing issues (connection to server failed) i recommend fiddling with your router (...and by router i of course mean penis)

:4

I only crash when i try to fly jets and spin them to fast (i.e. stylish crashing)...

Not really had many problems with crashes myself, and not that many others have complained.

i had to install win8 to get rid of the crashes. DICE's latest release fucked it up again, maybe it will be fixed again on tuesday. they mentioned better perfomance and stability. atleast the green flashing should be gone then.

Played the Back to Karkand pack for a bit on Wake. Crashes to desktop after about 20 minutes. Now I know why I stopped playing this POS.
