First off, I would like to say that if you are here, you are either interested to learn something new about Minecraft bugs or you want to know how to get colo(u)rs back in your game. Now the reason I am making this post is because I have recently had problems with chat on the server all being the same colo(u)r (White) and I wanted some answers. I did some looking, and I found a mod that allows you to put all the colo(u)rs back in the game. The only downside is that the shadows on the test is solid, but a darker colo(u)r.
You will see examples here:
White:
With Colo(u)rs:
What does this mean? It means that we can now fix the problem of not being able to tell what rank a person is, and be able to know what is talking and just part of the plugins that pop up on your screen. If you want to install this mod or learn more about it, I urge you to go to [1.1] WHITE TEXT FIX on the Minecraft Forum. If you are feeling too lazy to go to the forum, I have posted the mods below.

I have no idea what causes this bug since the code for rendering the shadows is the same as the one for rendering the front text. So yeah, go notch/jeb!
I use spoutcraft to play smp, I haven't come across the issue and doubt there would be the same problem there. You also get a bunch of other cool things with it
