Hello I am new to this website. So I would like to get some help with minecraft. So every time I go onto it, the stinking thing will always freeze as I begin to click sound or music. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Okay, so we have tried different versions of Java and they don't work, and the sound and music options are always breaking stuff for him, I sent him here because you guys obviously know more than I do...

well firstly, try getting the latest version of java. If not, the previous one.
Also make sure your graphic card drivers are all up to date.
Don't forget if you're running 64 bit windows you will need 64 bit java, etc.

Have you got any mods or anything installed?

And have you tried completely removing minecraft and re dl'ing it? try deleting the .minecraft folder

I have attempted to install mods and it destroyed a testing world. So I deleted the .minecraft file. I re installed it and minecraft still crashes when I turn the sound on. Also I have all my graphics u to date. 64 BIT and everything java 7 just destroys it though.

You deleted the entire minecraft thingys? also in "C:\Users\PCNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft"

The previous poster meant USERNAMEHERE not PCNAMEHERE but still.

If sound is crashing your game then 2 things: first update your sound drivers (likely Realtek), second update DirectX.
