There currently is a memory leak in the TF2 server engine.

This causes the TF2 servers to slowely eat all the memory, up to a point were no memory is anymore availible, and the server will crash.

VALVe has not responded yet on this issue, but tons of people are currently working on trying to locate the memory leak, and from what it looks like they most likely found the cause now.

Untill VALVe fixes the memory leak, it can happen that the servers will crash once every 2 or 3 days. Luckally we have alot of memory in the servers, so they can 'eat' pretty long.

We now know the reason behind this memory leak. We also know that the reason can make a server crash, and thus it won't be posted into details untill VALVe has fixed it.

Memory leaks are among some others the hardest bugs for fixing in a complex software. :/

The last update mentioned a fix for the memory leak. Unfortunatly VALVe has been unable to patch the leak propperly.

In return, nearly all TF2 servers now have memory leaks AND freeze's on round change.

I just had to reboot server 3, it was using 1.7GB memory. After the reboot it used 161MB.
