How populair is CS:Source? Is it worth to get a CS:Source server? And what CS:Source mods/plugins are populair?

I'm thinking about this, because slowely but surely, how much i hate to say it, CS 1.6 is dying....

Souce is REAL popular!

For an example, have a look at all the dumb servers. It's only the Source servers that ALWAYS have people on them...
I think it's really pretty, but the weapon balance is bollox.
However, it's still improving and they're making some fundamental changes to it every month.

It's definately worth having a server, dunno about mods though.
There's a LOT of interesting looking ones, but a lot of them look like "novelty" mods... i.e Play them for a week, then get bored, try a new one, repeat, repeat...

I'm prepared to move over if necessary, so no problems from me.

I think CS1.6 and Source will become more popular once 'ProMod' is released.

I don't know to much about this, but it does seem promising and it's getting alot of support from practically all online gaming communities.

For those of you who have source: Is it worth buying? some people say it's just shit and others say that its really good...

I have source, and i have some problems with it, but i think thats because my hardware cant cope with it. So i wont judge untill i have a decent PC.

The PC i use can't really handle Source nicely as i'd like it to. I have not played Source in fucking ages now, lol.

It IS very VERY pretty. Some of the guns totally pwn, some of the maps do aswell.

*BUT* some of the guns and maps suck so hard they almost completely ruin it... Also lots of people get graphics lag.

I'd recommend trying it somewhere first... See what you think.

I've played enough of it, to enjoy it, and my PC copes with it fine, but it's not the polished piece of multiplayer goodness that 1.6 is, even if it sh1ts all over it from a great height in the "prettiness" factor...

Source will always look better than CS1.6, obviously, lol. But, i think this shows that great graphics does not mean great gameplay.

tbh source ownz!

i played after i found a valvecafepc account for some days and it got deleten already.

what i can say is u can have 64 players at a time, bit crowded but it ownz, great graphics etc.

and there are too less mods atm, and warcraft mod at source sux like hell!
