I've hit a bit of a problem.

I've made a homemade bluray iso (photo slideshow) and thought I'd be able to play it back on my HDTV using my Dell XPS1530 by mounting the iso with Daemon Tools and using Cyberlink Power v8.

However it doesn't work giving me an error message aboe my driver being out of date - even though it more recent than the one they suggest. I've tried another driver (178.24) and get the same problem.

Has anyone been able to play a bluray iso on their laptop - if so how did you do it? I'm wondering if I use som eother software it might work

Could it be that the out of date driver is not your GFX driver, but your Daemon Tools driver? Tried updating that recently?

Hadn't even thought that Daemon could be an issue - there is a newer version. I will give that a go.

Well I'm getting closer.

First I updated Daemon Tools

Then I discovered that using a modified driver on my laptop that isn't WHQL signed means that Blu ray won't play. Something to do with the strict copy protection or something. So I'm now using a signed driver.

Success in that I can now actually open PowerDVD and don't get any error messages about my driver being out of date.

Failure in that it now says that my bluray mounted iso is an unsupported format and it won't play. Could be corrupt or a problem with the programme that created it. The programme I used is on my home PC so will have another go when I get back later this week.

Why don't you you just watch your photo's with acdsee pro 2.5? I could as easily watch my pics in a slideshow or with manual shifting on my monitor or on my tele, in highest quality, absolutely no need for HD or Bluray.
Next to that, powerdvd ain't all that, I use it a lot because they have a very straightforward option for SPDIF sound only. VLC is a better player though, it installs all kinds of codecs you might be needing and it's an awesome player as well. The only thing is that when you'd want to use SPDIF only (which is the only way to go if you want the sound not to be messed with and just transmitted as pure DTS or D EX or whatever comes with the movie) you have to put the audio output on Win32 wave out, that's the only way spdif would work with VLC.
