Other changes:

You're wondering that something isn't working in an unreleased Windows version yet? :ugly:

It isn't working on Vista either. Asus just released a hotfix for it.

Don't by Asus sound shit: either original Creative or the stuff from Auzentech. Asus isn't meant to create sound stuff.

It's an issue with the HL2 engine which Valve should fix but they don't do it.

It doesn't accept Surround Sound settings from Windows if optical/toslink/spdif is used.

You cannot have surround sound (EAX) via SPDIF (or other digital output) unless your soundcard supports DD/DTS live encoding (or similar like the new Auzentech X-Fi does)... but I think you know that and I'm missunderstanding sth.

My game wrecked twice now with MultiCore enabled. I hope they fix it until the real release.

The Necromancer (4970)
Yeah, it crashes for me as well from time to time. It never did that before unless mat_queue_mode 2 was enabled and apparently the new multicore support is a different thing (I checked the mat_queue_mode setting and it was still at -1).

Tbh, I really wonder what is taking them so long.
Ep3 and Portal had full multi-core support (="hybrid-threading" as Valve calls it) from day 1, only TF2 had that half-assed "only the particle system runs on the second core" mode.

After the update mqm -1 is multicore rendering and 0 is single core rendering.

I turned multi core off now and my game still wrecks.
So the good message is mc doesnt seems to be buggy. The game itself is!

I watched a short educational film about the life of Einstein. It was pretty awesome, Einstein was played by the same guy that did Manuel in Fawlty Towers.

Now I'll quickly leave before anyone dares question my immense knowledge of physics.

'Time to power itself' isn't the same as space-time or mass  I won't question your super knowledge of physics anymore :D

Its recommened on off because its not fully tested yet.
Its for quad, triple and dualcore. But as far as I remember it will only use three cores.
