fun fact about venus flytraps - if you manage to stick your finger in its mouth and pull it out before it can grab it, it still tries to digest it anyway. result, the plant digests itself.

I used to grow Sarracenia pitchers (as well as venus fly traps and sundews). Re: household fly removal - the pitcher was (to me) the more robust and more effective of the three in this roll. Plus you could see the silhouettes of the flies etc. struggling as they fell in. They are not prone to being wrongly triggered as the venus fly traps do and sundews struggle to hold more than greenfly (ants struggle but can usually walk free eventually - the "glue" is just not that sticky!).



Yes but those things stink to high heaven. Unless you are a fan of the smell of old roadkill - don't bother.
