Haha it is Jarate, some awesome usages
Code:
Jarate is a thrown jar that splashes upon impact. When splashed on enemies, they take 35% more damage for a period of time. Jumping in water will wash off Jarate. Jarate is also able to short out Spies’ cloaking devices. When used on teammates, Jarate will extinguish any fire effects.

so looks like they are turning the sniper into an anti spy class

what will jarate replace though? The SMG or the Kukri..

35% more damage as well people that get hit by it, stealth heavy buff? High damage classes will benefit quite a bit from snipers who just keep on throwing jarate, but I am guessing it will be on the same cooldown as the sandman.

What if there is a map without water? Does getting a med pack remove its effects? If not then it's stupid.

Well, the effect vanishes on it's own but yeh, a medpack should clear it. But heavy's are fudged by the update...again.

yet they also pump out the most damage, so anyone who gets hit by jarate will die pretty much instantly from a heavy. Its a double edged sword.

Heavies are boned to spies and snipers and a heavy+medic will lose against a demo+medic as long as the fatty doesn't get the upperhand. They're also boned to sandman. And now to jarate (+35% dmg cancels the heavy's hp advange, which just makes him MORE of a sitting duck).
That's a lotta things workign against you as a heavy.

Oww, maaaan, check out the steamforums. Protesting against a jar of urine (jarate actually makes sense with the sniper's whole savanna look). That's a lot of fun.

if jarate 'works', then I bet that the unlock for the demoman's melee will be usable as a molotov cocktail if he gets set on fire.

I'm also thinking jarate spam + huntsman spam = pain

The only issue is however that they have added NOTHING to the sniper's survivability so he'll remain a 125hp class with no evasion manuevers in the middle of the fight. Soldiers and demo's are going to eat them alive.

1/3 team sniper, 1/3 team spies and 1/3 team medics.

Medics uber the snipers, they chuck jarate over everyone, then use the huntsman and headshot the bollocks off everyone. Spies come in just after the jarate is chucked, with the ambassador and blow the crap out of everyone as well. Win.

It would work better with more offensive classes, but it would be funny to see this team own a normal team :P

I like how they trying to make sniper more into teamplay - extinguishing any fire effects, throwing at other players for more damage or into spies, so they are trying to make snipers less sitting ducks on 2fort snipers balcony, more involved into team. But who cares, just gimme Ambasador so I can be Clint Eastwood and gonna fuck some snipers :mrgreen:
