well i stupidly gave activision 10 quid for the last one and it wasn't great, the other map pack looked alot better but still the same bullshit. Anyway, ill have to play some mw2 when i get back from france.

I'm "enojoying" MW2 too aswell (but on my comp in poland - i'm in france now), and i have a solution for you guys: dedicated servers for MW2.
Ok, thats not fully legal, but it works, can allow mod and some other incredible stuff. And the best: that's totally safe.
Please, don't directly say i'm a cheater - i never used hacks that destroy other's fun - no aimbots, wallhacks and other shit like that, but the "dedicated" servers of MW2, just do what IW failed to.

Say if you want more explanation on it.

Call of Duty Multiplayer Always Free

Whether or not Activision ultimately decides to introduce a subscription-based service for its Call of Duty titles, fans will be pleased to know they won't have to pay to play multiplayer matches, at least for now.

A purported YouTube video surfaced last night that showed a possible membership program was in the works for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Addressing the video, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling said the menu shown was an error and that there will never be 'pay-to-play' Call of Duty multiplayer.

"To be clear: There is not, and will never be, additional fees required to subscribe and play Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer," he said on his blog.

"The video above seems to show a user on what appears to be the Xbox Live Gold Membership renewal page via the Marketplace in the guide, but while in-game in Modern Warfare 2 (which is in error)," he added. "It does not however, prove a pay-to-play subscription model is in the works for Modern Warfare 2, because no such plan exists for this or any other Call of Duty (including the upcoming Black Ops)."

"That said, feel free to cease freaking out."

Treyarch community manager Josh Olin addressed the rumors saying Call of Duty: Black Ops will also be free to play online. "No, you will not have to 'Pay to Play' multiplayer either," he said. "Rumor -> Squashed."

Activision issued a statement to IGN further reinforcing what Bowling and Olin had stated, saying the company has no plans to charge for online multiplayer.

"Reports of a subscription membership in Modern Warfare 2 are not true," a spokesperson said. " Activision has no plans to charge gamers to play Call of Duty multiplayer."

This news comes just days after industry analyst Michael Pachter preached that publishers such as Activision need to begin to monetize multiplayer by including subscription fees, starting with Call of Duty: Black Ops this November.

It's not ok to mod any part of MW2. Running private games still has VAC enabled. IW does not allow any mods in MW2.

ive seen alot of people getting a VAC bcos they ran dedicated + mods...one of the reason why im not getting this game

with the amount of cheaters in this game, i dont even get why some would still be playing this shit.

Who needs game, when you have actually working RC vehicle But if this game will have dedicated servers ( and it looks like it will ) and will be just polished MW2 with new weapons and gadgets its a must have.

I told you this game will be awesome, all those changes sound extremely promising - like they took mw2 multiplayer and got rid of every annoying and console-ish aspect. No nukes, shotguns as primarys, 24 players, dedicated servers ? Bring it on !

yeah, im thinking activision must have looked at how much they fucked up infinity wards last efforts so they are just going with it this one. balls, i hate giving those fuckers money, but i guess its the same as paying tax, im basically giving money to those fuckers on benefits who are taking the piss and dont genuinely need it.

so, worth getting? worth throwing more cash at the biggest money-whores the industry has ever seen? when they could reasonably be expected to do alot of this for free? the jury's still out. that said, zombie mode might just swing it, if they make it any good.

There's nothing even remotely interesting coming in next 6 months in multiplayer fps genre, so unless polycount pack for tf2 will be uber awesome we'll have to buy this I wouldnt pay them 50€, but it will be no more than 30€ in Soviet Russia
