love the demo! only two issues for me; i hate pc key icons in games, and AND YOU CAN ONLY HAVE TWO FUCKING GUNS!!!!!

That annoyed me alot, what is the point being duke if you are not carrying a shit load of gunnishment! i hope they patch that because, unless it was done for a technical reason, going for "realism" with duke nukem is silly :|

Thoughts?

I'd say that the game was..a bit confusing, but still OK. A mediocre mix of old and modern FPS shooter, but Duke Nukem himself made the game enjoyable even though it was a bit linear, full of cutscenes and had the 2 weapon system. DNF had its moments though. I really liked how it was full of references to the gaming and online genre :lol: and Duke still hasn't lost his charm.

Not a masterpiece but definitely not a complete failure (like Daikatana :shock:)

I've only been able to rock a few hours a night so far, and I have not yet finished the game. It's pretty rough, and from what I have seen and heard, in the 2 years or so gearbox have had the game, they have pretty much just ported it to the consoles. But, I never bought the game thinking it would be as beautiful as crysis 2 or play like a wet dream, it's duke, it's trashy, tacky, sexist, cheesy and fucking balls to the wall fun :mrgreen: I love all the humour and one liners! Throwing my first dumbbell at an alien's face was heavenly!

The problem with games like this is that they are trying to live up to the nostalgia that we all have with the DN3D and that is just impossible to surpass, because it is an emotional value. I'm really enjoying it and the only thing that is shit is the inability to carry more than 2 weapons, but it is not the end of the world. The beauty of duke is, he will empty a clip, chuck the gun to the floor, and pick up something that looks like an alien sex toy and shoot green shit into some swines face ! ! !

And then proceeds to have a regenerating health bar (something halo is pretty much famous for with its shield), only carry 2 guns (another Halo thing)....

For example the Hive part, while it looks good, its design is so incredible enclosed; you can't go exploring because if you do then you'll fall down a fucking pit and die. They could've done some really amazing with this, both in terms of conceptual grandness and gameplay wise.

Is it a worthy sequel to Duke Nukem 3D? Hell no. Is it a bad game? No. It's a fun though inconsistent game that could've been something really special if it'd been released back in 2001. Now it just feels old and dated.

By the way, when you complete the game you unlock some extras. In this menu you can look at some old screenshots showcasing the previous iterations of the game including the 1998 and 2001 E3 trailers. There's also two new videos which have never been showed before, these show what it looked like in 2003 (looks very much like the 2001 version apart from the Doom 3-esque lighting effects) and 2006 (looks much like the released version but still has some major differences).
