Every band sounds different even if they play the same type of music that's not my favourite band one of my favourites are five finger death punch and trivium so meh oh we'll just a good song
The point was that DevilDriver do not sound different, at all, everything they've recorded could be taken directly off of machine heads albums or in a rare case one of White Zombies albums. There's something to be said for originality and I've heard all that about "nothing new under the sun" but its simply not true. Trivium and DevilDriver are particularly guilty of lazy rehashes thrash and groove its been done before and been done better.
Note I don't point at FFDP in this; the current cause célèbre of Metal fan vitriol. To me there's a lot of Pantera, Sepultura, early Nu-Metal and even American Head Charge in what they play but they're taken those elements blended it together and adding a HUGE amount of attitude and Southern Rock, even if though don't like it its at least interesting and trying to do something new.

personally i dont like machine head but i like devildriver(weird i know but meh), and i like trivium i see a lot of hate for trivium but once you see them live you get hooked they are one of my favourite bands, but i have a lot of favourite bands ranging from black stone cherry to trivium to in flames and other up and coming bands like insense or rise to remain which were all playing at the defenders of the faith tour (except from black stone cherry), so i dont really go into "they sound the same as this band" stuff i just listen to the music and if i like it then i like it, thats what i think music should be.
