You know what Howard, this was amusing at first, but is there any chance you could wind your neck in now?

Take it down a couple of notches eh?
Done and done.

Obviously the situation was not clear when I was invited into SpA. I understand that now.
When I post I do so to encourage debate: I rattle cages to incite discussion, but the people here (Balls aside) are too gutless to even try. They would much rather spend a good chunk of their time insulting me and berating me on Steam chat. That's fine, if utterly bereft of courage. Internet hard-men are easy to find.

To whit: I quit. I will no longer post here, I will no longer discuss here and I will never again be drawn into a debate in which, heaven forfend, my opinion could be requested.

I am smart, I am experienced and I am opinionated. If that bothers you then I suggest you don't open your god dammed front door any more. Those people out there may frighten you.

/Howard out - I'll see you online and no, I most likely wont talk to you...

You know, I'm really chuffed that you have such a high opinion of yourself, even if evidently it was at the cost of a sense of humour, but you've really made a lot of assumptions about the people on this forum in a very short space of time haven't you?

You come in here, shouting the odds like the Master Intellect has arrived and it was time to take heed of his glorious Opinion. What you failed to have grasped is that this is a casual Community of people with mixed interests. We were all brought here by a common factor, that's for sure, but we're not all 'experienced' gamers with a list as long as our arm of games that should be noted for their historical significance when it comes to innovation. Some of us just play games cause it passes the time and it's enjoyable. I'm sorry if that attitude is so detestable for you, but it's just the way it is.

Your reaction to Minimoose's entirely innocuous statement was frankly baffling. You accused him of mocking you and made out like he was some kind of simpleton who was somehow detrimental to the progress of the video game industry. The boy may end words with an infuriating Z but he is far from being a simpleton. He simply leads a busy life and doesn't have time to commit himself 100% to some epic sprawling adventure. What's the problem if he wants to do a couple of laps on GRID between everything else in his life? Is it that this level of casual gamer is catered to that pisses you off so much? That's all fine and well, but there's hating the trends of the industry, and then there's jumping down somebody's throat just because their opinion is contrary to your own.

And that's the point I'm trying to make. I don't give a flying fuck about Alien Vs. Predator. I haven't played it, I probably never will, but your attitude just stinks man. This forum is easy going, and you might scoff at that fact because we are all inferior because we choose not to get as involved as you do, but it's cause we don't want to. Everybody has shit in their life they have to be getting on with. We come on here to get away from that stuff, and have a laugh with each other. That's all we've ever done. So you can leave your hang up's at the door and chillax with the rest of us, or you can just not come back through it.

It's your choice Bud.

I'm pretty sure Howard can judge my intellect from one post on a forum ;)

Anyway Howard, as moist said, on this forum we relax and we don't take everything people say seriously :ugly: (except when I'm rampaging at crovax, but he loves it).

Looking through this with less tired and pissed off eyes this morning, I think your post requires a response, McMoist. Sorry and all:

100% correct. Everything you say is right on the money and I will not refute it. I took the argument too far (though I am certain that there was originally more to the comment I directed at Minimoose: posting very tired is bad m'kay?) and I categorically owe Minimoose an apology.

Have I? Don't think so. Well beyond that I quite like you bunch of mad bastards and have enjoyed talking to you. :? Pretty much the only assumption I've made

This I really do not understand, though I accept that may be my failing not yours. If you want to hear people shouting the odds about the opinion of others, then log into mumble. I have posted my opinion and explained it when asked but I have never shouted the odds or told any one single person that they are wrong. The only person who has been rude in this thread is Dekar who took it upon himself to derail things by just flat-out insulting me (something that was then carried on in Steam chat afterwards - oh well).
Obviously I have not been utterly attentive regarding when I am being mocked or when people are just yanking my chain but I could also argue that the exact reverse has also been true. Thus are the joys of discussing things on the internet (where it is pretty much impossible to tell the intent or emotion of a poster) instead of being sat around a table in a bar (when you get to fully appreciate the opinion of the person sat in front of you).

I do want to stay here (in the community that is) and I do wish to continue to play with you guys but the entire point of a forum is discussion. :? Apparently you are all too relaxed and uninvolved to have one however, even though there is a vast amount of spleen-venting in many, many threads on this board. Fair enough. Discussion of opinions of games is not welcome here. Duly noted. :) I will simply stay away form such things and ignore any conversation in which my thoughts on a game may be called upon. All I can say beyond that is that if this is the kind of escalation and venom that is doled out for sharing opinions of computer games, what would happen if someone brought religion or politics into the fray? I think the internet might actually melt... :D

Anyway, consider me relaxed and, from here on in, utterly bereft of opinion. :18 I would rather keep my mouth shut and enjoy owning all your asses on TF2 then ever go through this again.

Edeph there is a melee tutorial video further up in the thread if you need any help.

I'm glad you guys can all talk about this. We are all gamers here, some more casual than others, just leave it at that.

Opinions aside... i love you guys....

Post subject:  Re: [AvP] Alien v Predator

It did get a little out of hand.

And you're right, it's not like there haven't been heated discussions in the past where there have been conflicts of opinion. Just go back and look over Lim-Dul's posts over the past year and a half to see most of them.

But yeah, I've had time to think about what I posted as well and I was a bit out of line myself. It's not like there aren't gamers round here who take it as seriously as you do man, I think it's just cause a lot of the members and the community don't know you too well yet. Thing is, that the most prolific posters have something of a personality so we can usually tell when they're joking and what not. And there is a lot of joking around and piss taking on the board, but it's usually tongue in cheek. It's not meant to be malicious in anyway. A quick browse would reveal that.

And you shouldn't keep quiet or not share your opinion man, you're entirely right about the fact that it completely defeats the purpose of a discussion board if nobody wants to speak up.

Maybe just let us get to know you a bit better before you break out the big guns?

Yeah exactly, and dont take it personally if someone comes back with a counter point that is stupid or is just an insult because it shows a lack of core debating/discussion skills. NEVER be afraid to express your opinion (unless they have ak's) and if someone counters the argument or agrees with it, then the forum has done its job.

Lets see...
You started the chat.
I told you I dont want to talk with you. It was 3 in the night and I wanted to play MW2 with Bart and Ditch.
You said ok and left me alone for about a minute.
I told you to post whatever you want on the forum but you refused and rather went on to annoy me.
Then I felt indeed a little challenged by you and your usual bad boy talking.

But just keep pretending that you are the messias and everybody but you is wrong.

If you feel insulted enough to leave the forum and SpA after someone tells you he doesnt like the way you post, you shouldnt visit any forum anyway and keep you ears closed whenever you leave the house.

You are just overracting because your enormous ego got a scratch, thats my impression.

? honestly the demo was a bit of a shambles, im not gonna say anything too negative in fear of loosing my job, but its just a deathmatch mp game in a limited environment. The full release has a really enjoyable SP and alot better MP modes. The most positive thing to come out of the demo release is a few updates to MP that will be patched to give better balance and also fix the matchmaking problems, which do work alot better now.

I think that Protect had a shower this morning, Edpeh...

On a related note, I have heard one good piece of news: It is told, in hushed whispers around the geek-fires, that the demo is in fact 9 month old code, thus explaining the plethora of retardation that is so abundant therein.

We can but hope, 'cos flatly my patience with AVP 2000 (or what ever the fuck it is called) wears thin. Being a classic 10 years ago is not necessarily true now.
