Spain were the better team; but not by as much as everyone is saying that they were, imo. Netherlands played a great game and, I think, deserved to win nearly as much after that performance.

that aside, from the 2nd half onwards it was fantastic entertainment, even if most of the Dutch team did get booked

Yeah, not a whole hell of a lot to say about that tbh.

All in all, I found it to be a rather underwhelming World Cup Final. Thought Iniesta was superb though, his ball control at times is just fantastic, so I was glad he got the goal.

To be fair to the guy, I can kinda understand that he wouldn't want to go handing out red cards in this game as it could easily ruin what could be a cracking final, but some of the challenges the Dutch players were putting in were just beyond the pale. Van Bommel's tackle on Iniesta was a straight red in my opinion, and Nigel de Jong's kick to Xabi Alonso's chest was bloody shocking. How he stayed on the park I'll never know.

Towards the end though, I felt like Webb was losing control of the game.

Agreed. Although my favorite player throughout the World Cup was probably Robben.

He looks like a cross between Zidane and Patrick Steward. Also, he's epically quick and dribbles like a... uhm... pro. =)

aye it was a poor final imo, needed an early goal, but in the end it was just people battlin in mid.


oh well, heres lookin foward to brazil 2014, Englands time to shine!!!! :P

Right place at the right time, seeing his previous fails.
Sure nice control of the ball, but Stekelenburg nearly would have gotten it, not the best shot.

Nice front kick there. Red for shure.
I was really disappointed by this final match.
In my opinion, both teams played pretty bad.
Well Spain shure knows how to handle the ball, they always get like 90% ball possession.
First half, they had some nice passes etc, which were good to watch, but that's all.
The match Germany-Uruguay was soooo much better to watch, thought it was a good game.
Really, taking apart a very few good games, this world cup was somehow missing the magic of football.
There really was no "joga bonito"...too bad. :(
I mean, moments like this were completely missing:

It was one hell of a dreadfull final.

Did The Netherlands deserve to win that game? Not really. Did Spain deserve to win that game? Not really.

Did the referee completely fuck up another game? Deffo. Imo he should have pulled the red card at the CORRECT times (Ninjakick anyone?), and that goal was utterly completely bullshit, the amount of ref mistakes leading to that goal was of quality of your local sunday class F match.

Blegh.
