Nowadays overclocking basically amounts to changing your FSB speed in the BIOS without any soldering etc. like back in the olden days... I've been running my Core2Duo E6600 @ 3.2 GHz for over a year now... The processor was running without OC for a whole 5 minutes or so. ;-) |

Uh... CPU: Intel C2D E4500 2.20 Ghz GPU: [lol] NVIDIA 8400GS [lol] Mobo: Dunno, ECS or whatever, some Chinese crap. RAM: 2 Gigs of some manufacturer HDD: 250 Gb Display: Philips 19 inch SmartAccessory OS: Windows XP I can play TF2 at 1440x900 at 60-70 FPS on DirectX 8.1 mode, lol If I play on DirectX 9.0 mode, I can only get a resonable FPS at the 640x480 res, lool. But, hey IT WORKS! lol. Did I tell you that I can run Crysis? I'm planing on getting a 8600 GT since it is at 100€ here in Portugal, do you think it runs TF2 (and other games like Crysis ) in Dx 9.0 with the shiny models, AA, HDR and all the good stuff at least on the 1024x768 resolution? lol |

Quote: ATI ftw... Nvidia is for ppl who only cares about performance, not image quality
Heh? They both use the DirectX API in most games so have access to the same kinds of effects... The only thing that matter is the speed at which thew cards process them. =)

If any of you need help with overclocking - visit http://www.overclock.net Pretty much the biggest overclocking community. Everyone is always happy to help anyone with their overclocking "quests". Quote: and i always wondered how to get it past 3,2GHz without freezing my computer after 5 min or so
Usually this is because you have to increase the voltage going to your CPU, also known as VCORE.If you need any further help, please tell me what CPU, motherboard, RAM and cooling you have. |

Alternatively, maybe try to aim for 3.2Ghz first. See how you get on, just don't go too crazy and break anything. Small steps at a time. Plus, I would strongly recommend getting a better CPU cooler, especially with a quad! |

Good all-round system, but I hope you are using a 64-bit O/S to utilise all that 8GB of RAM!
