Quote: You assume too much Lim. It's actually not Future Shock.
Oh God, then it's The Terminator: SkyNET. Who cares? ;-)They use virtually the same engine and are almost the same game except the latter having nice multiplayer... You couldn't tell by looking at screenshots alone... ![]() ![]() I even found your screenshot's source: http://www.gamespy.com/articles/795/795692p1.html |

Pfff.... ![]() ![]() Hmm... Zool, The Dig, Sam & Max... all easy ones. And now it's again some obscure animalnamed PhysX (^^) game. I've got a bad timing... ![]() ![]() |

Hmm... the screen looks very HeroQuest'ish, but it's none of the HQ-games I know. And I don't wanna go through all isometric, fantasy games on mobygames.com, so I pass for someone else. ![]() |

Nope - do you see a samurai in the picture? 0_o One tiny, tiny hint. This game has something to do TECHNOLOGICALLY with a title that has been mentioned in this thread. There are very few games of its kind. =) |

OK - it's somehow related to the better known game Outcast. Now you should be able to find it in no time. ^^ |

Did it use voxels rather than polygons? |
Author: | Lim-Dul [ 15 Jul 2008, 16:48 ] |
Post subject: | Re: Guessing games: The game edition |
Precisely. ^^ One of the first (and probably last :-P) isometric games using such an engine, which allowed e.g. a smooth rotation of the viewpoint - quite untypical at that time - even though the graphics looked quite "pixelated" or should I say "voxelated". =) It's really sad that all modern graphics accelerators focus on polygons because some really cool things can be achieved with Voxels - e.g. terrain deformation is a BREEZE with them as seen in the pretty cool RTS Perimeter. With all those multi-core processors around someone might start using one of the cores for voxels, though. =) |

Post subject: | Re: Guessing games: The game edition |
No Lim. The idea that one of my cores isn't doing exactly the same as the others would cause me to flip out and lose control. People would get hurt and I could possibly be imprisoned for my crimes. Now if you think it's worth letting that happen just for some terrain deformation then you're one sick puppy Sir, one sick pup. Oh and I still don't know what your obscure dungeon battler game is. |

Well, then you can start flipping out right now. ^^In TF2 one of your cores does particle calculations... In other cases your second (third, fourth) core does usually nothing unless you run two applications at once, so there you have it. :-D |
