Ironically I have finished Chun's normal trials too even though I don't play her. :-D

The difference being you got an arcade stick and I got a cheap-ass gamepad :P

And I cant even do first stage of Sagat's normal trials. How do you do his Fake Kick? Tried every possible standing Roundhouse he has :<

Post subject:  Re: Street Fighter IV

That one took me a LOT. It's the hardest normal trial for Sagat, haha. basically you hace to double click h.k within a very very small timeline. 0.3s or something like that. I kept mashing that button like crazy without any success until I read a tip on some forum: Jump forward and right when you land double tap h.k as fast as you can. Try it out a couple of times and eventually it'll succeed. :)

Post subject:  Re: Street Fighter IV

Yeah - it's not even so much about mashing the button but giving the HK button a rhythmic double-tap.

At last I beat arcade on normal.
Everytime Seth is the problem... On versus I can beat Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Sagat etc on the hardest difficulty almost every time. Playing with the red cyclone ofc
Spamming lariat works vs CPU almost always

Hulk Hogan is a deplorable human being.

Mr.T is cool though.

Anybody who uses nude mods in Street Fighter however are just pathetic... I mean, honestly. You can pay a woman to fight you in the nude in real life. Just watch out for ones on the cheaper end of the price spectrum cause some of those bitches have had nasty upbringing's and they can fight.

It's sexy for about 30 seconds, then they cave your skull in by jumping on your head. The last thing you see is them raiding your wallet before you slip off into pain filled, shameful unconsciousness.

Well lately i haven't played that much because i came to the conclusion that this game is way to hard :| i don't know if i want to invest time in it to become better at it and i'm to much of a cheapskate to buy a controler :ugly:. And those throws are annoying as hell and people use them way to much. :P

Author:  Lim-Dul [ 31 Jul 2009, 21:05 ]
Post subject:  Re: Street Fighter IV

You can tech throws if you anticipate them, which is nice. ^^
People don't use them too much - you Tiger Knee and Uppercut too much and throwing is one way of dealing with that. :-D
At least if your gameplay style hasn't changed since the last time we met randomly. ^^

BTW, Blackhawk - are you still playing turtle Guile without knowing any combos as if it still were SF2? ^^

I agree that mastering any fighting game is hard - it's basically the first time that I'm even attempting it since MK4. I found out that I won't be able to progress far in G2 unless I practice LK and LP links and these require very precise timing (which is also screwed sometimes due to shitty netcode).

Post subject:  Re: Street Fighter IV

I'm working on the super and ultra atm so I'm over the basic SF2. :P

Also don't like the throw system... always get thrown around. Online mode (ranked/championchip) sucks if you only encounter the same Ken/Ryus/... all the time which either never played vs Guile so I bash them into the ground or they are some pr0 suckers which beat me easily. Once meat a Vega and it was great fun so we directly added us as friends.

All the non-online stuff is way too hard for my taste. I finally managed to beat Seth on "easy" with Bison to get Rose, but still miss Gen and Dan and therefore the rest of the chars, too. And it simply sucks if you cannot simply unlock the additional chars with a balanced efford. In the trials I only got lvl 2-3 with most chars... and with some even only lvl 1. Survival and time I only played the first couple of lvls.

The game is fun, but too overloaded with combo, super, ultra, throw, tech, counter, ... I don't wanna have an encylopedia next to me where I have to lookup what to do in situation x after a, b and x2.

Imho it's fun to play against your mates, but quite sucky in most other concerns.

(And it's still not saving my selected screen resolution...)

Post subject:  Re: Street Fighter IV

I think I should post the SFIV Unlocker. ;-)
I found it two days ago when looking for a trainer that would allow me to unlock the DLC costumes, because many people apparently had them before the actual DLC became available:

http://h.imagehost.org/download/0137/SF ... l-char1sma

Enjoy unlocking your characters in 2 seconds while it took me 4 evenings to do this some weeks ago... :-P
Sadly the trainer also allows you to unlock all the colors, which also took an epic amount of effort for me on Survival and Time Attack, not to mention icons and titles, which would explain why ultimate noobs have e.g. their character portraits even though I don't believe they even completed normal trials judging by their complete lack of skill. :-\

Here's the costume unlocker:

http://h.imagehost.org/download/0415/St ... me_Toggler

I really don't think Microsoft would be bold enough to charge another $20 for the DLC on the PC when there are hundreds of new skins out there by now and considering how the PC version had virtually nothing new except for the 6 month delay but well - they are. The size of the DLC is of course ~20 KBs because EVERYTHING is already provided in the default installation, just some variables need to be set to 1 instead of 0, which is what the trainer does. -.-

As to SFIV being "overloaded". You might not know this but most of the stuff that is in SFIV was in SF2 too - you probably just weren't able to play it at that level back then. Watch some pros playing HD Remix and be amazed. :-D
I think overall the only new things are: Focus Attacks (though SFIII had universal overheads and parries instead), Ultra Combos, dashes and EX Moves (though EX Moves and dasheing have been around for a long time, just not in SF2).

You don't need to really "know" too much about the game - stuff like techs, counters, reversal etc. all come out naturally if you just play the game correctly. And combos, which of course were in SF2 as well, you simply need to learn and train over and over again - no reading involved - just finding out which attacks can be canceled by going through the trials...

Also, throws are one of the best ways to piss off these Jumping HK-sweep and wake-up Shoryuken noobs unless you know better stuff (combos etc.) to punish with =P

I unlocked all the characters except Gouken and Seth, which i don't care about or like  and i don't think i will play with all the other characters just to unlock him or maybe i will play to see the movies which are nice :). It took me only an hour played with 1 round very easy  , i would have unlocked Gouken too but i don't know what happened i played against him and beat him but the message that i unlocked him didn't appear :(

I found the movies to be quite ridiculous.
I mean, I don't know anything about the story of the different characters, and the movie clips didn't help to clarify that at all.
Perphaps they assume you already know something, or did I miss something in the game?

There was a movie called Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind bundled with the collector's edition of the console versions.

You can look for it on the Internet though it's absolutely atrocious.

Nah, they're all crap.

I've also seen the SFIV anime that comes with the Special Edition. Good Christ it is so insanely dull and the fight scenes are just absolutely awful.

Basically they're just there to be ignored cause there is no real substance whatsoever.

Just do what I do, watch the Street Fighter II Anime Film. It's dumb as a bunch of rocks but it's enjoyable stuff, especially the OTT American dub;

Guile: Bison, I'm gonna rip your fucking heart out you filthy bastard!
Bison: Afraid I don't have one.

And best of all, the fight scenes are cracking. Which is all you really want from something called Street FIGHTER.

Let's phrase it this way: I never played it somehow pr0 (like I never play anything pr0), but I had no serious problems to beat the CPU on higher levels. But in SFIV the fucking Abel even annoys me on easy with the fucking throw system. -_-'

I really miss a "show" function in the trials where the game just shows you how the stuff you have to do looks like. Otherwise it simply sucks if ya trying move X and doing some basics not the right way.

Yeah, Capcom acknowledged the fact that trials should have a "preview" option and they will... in the next SFIV version you'll have to pay for again. -.-

Anyways - you can just use Youtube instead. There's one user that has ALL the characters' trials in HD.

No, he means by playing the game normally.

Lets say I play Chun-Li vs Ken, and he managed to knock me down. Normally he will now try to cross me up on wakeup with a jumping mk, but all he does is facing my EX-Spinning Bird Kick ^.^ Although I cant test it atm (because my PC broke down and I'm sitting on a 8 year old laptop >_>), I'm pretty sure if I did it correct, I just scored a reversal (because my move came out on wakeup on the first frame I could execute a move) and a counter (because I defeated his jumping mk with a higher priority move). I probably did it 100 times already without even noticing. Same applies for techs, although I dont even know what a tech is :ugly:

Post subject:  Re: Street Fighter IV

I don't have problems with counter... with Flash Kicks you collect plenty of them. But teching throws with timing an own throw correctly (if I understood the guide correctly)... is somehow just meh. Focus isn't a problem too... it's almost unused (by the other players) at my current play level... or counter with awesome Flash Kick. Only some pr0s use it in funky combinations.

Ye... the game is great, but there are a lot of fails in it which are adding to a big "meh" taste over time.

Post subject:  Re: Street Fighter IV

Your problem is that you think you can see a throw coming like you can eg a random Ultra from a Ryu. Thats just not possible. You just have to know the situations where people like to throw, and then tech them with your own throw. For example, if you block a few jabs and/or shorts from your enemy, they'll usually go for a throw. Some people like to throw eg a Shoto after a blocked Shoryuken (in that case, the shoto cant do anything ofc). Lim-Dul likes to throw you after an empty Tiger Knee :ugly:

Especially since you play Guile people like to throw you because you are THE turtle character :P
Just get used to it and you'll see it's plain easy to tech the people or throw them yourself.

Oh, and always remember that its NOT a good idea to attempt a throw on your enemy when he's waking up - it will miss EVERY time and if he attempts a throw himself, it will hit EVERY time and NEVER tech ;)

Also, this is a pretty good guide about throws and will give you a pretty good idea of typical throw situations. Although it was written for 3rd strike, the same applies to sf4.

Post subject:  Re: Street Fighter IV

"Empty Tiger Knee"? WTF is that? :-P

You mean a non-empty Tiger Knee would be followed by e.g. a Tiger Uppercut which is what retards do? ;-)
I don't do that since in the real non-laggy world this doesn't work.

The only thing that can be "empty" in the game are jumps - the technique is that the enemy will be trying to block your jump-in attack but you are not pressing any button until you land and then your both close and quick enough to throw - if you had attacked your throw attempt would come out later than the enemy's block stun and would result in a Shoryuken (or equivalent) in your face unless you decided to go for a full combo. ^^

Ah, and by the way - the Flash Kick is not awesome, Blackhawk - it's epically crappy and the reason why Guile is a low tier character in the game. In fact any character that has more health than Guile can chip away some of your HP and then merrily jump on you with high priority attacks and they will always trade and hence with time you will simply lose by doing the Flash Kick. ;-)

Short Tiger Knee has such little recovery time, I consider it as empty :P

But I don't throw after short Tiger Knees - I only throw after Tiger Knees that are blocked. ^^

Short Tiger Knees are a form of moving forward under the cover of a LP/LK Tiger Shot for me. :-D
