No really, Howard, if all you're going to say is "Windows 7 is so much better than XP and everyone who doesn't switch is an idiot," everyone will just think you don't have any good reasons that XP or Firefox or IE is bad.

I really am curious why you vehemently bash XP/Firefox/etc. without saying what is wrong with them.
I "bash" them 'cos I know better than you (Oh noes! Howard is arrogantz agianz!!!11oneoneone).

Simple fact: I was paid to build, repair and install systems for over 15 years. I am a highly skilled system builder with immense amounts of knowledge on all version of windows and with all software related to running a windows platform

I KNOW THIS SHIT.

As I say - use what the fuck you like. I have no interest in trying to educate you. People have this insane malfunction whereby they get a PC and suddenly become overnight experts on stuff they have no information about but by god they have "an opinion!" so its all good, right?

Do what you want, use what you want. No one gives a shit. Simple fact is though that in any other field this would never happen. You would never walk up to a paramedic and tell them how to do their job simply because you did a CPR course, but with even less knowledge and absolutely zero experience you will happily lecture a professional PC technician simply cos you like the look of Firefox and are terrified of change. :4

Firefox blows because there is no immediate plan to make it 64bit, plus it's a systems hog, and buggier than a $5 motel room.

So I use it, why? I absolutely hate the evil empire, Microsoft. Chrome, you say? Google is the next Microsoft. I fully expect those two corporations to run against each other for president of the USA.

I love 64bit, dismayed that I bought a HP product. Not everything uses 64bit unfortunately, heck not everything uses 32bit. Nothing has impressed me like tightness of the programming in 8bit with 64K ram restraints, and a 5 1/4" 720mb floppy. Got 4GB ram? A terabyte of storage?? Let's get sloppy, use it all up, I know, lets program in JAVA.

Change is inevitable, and people tend to resist change. Resistance is futile.

(maniacal laughter)

Edit: I meant no plans for windows 64 bit version. There are 64bit versions for Linux.

Well there is something that would have changed the way I took what you were saying dramatically. I was under the impression that you were just another computer user "with opinions" as you put it. Clearly this is not the case. :P

This is probably the most sensible and objective post made in this entire thread. Someone asked for help and the thread turns in to a discussion about something largely unrelated before we even think about helping the guy.
I don't mind this discussion at all, but this isn't the place to continue it.

Let's get this thread back on track and see if we can fix this issue he's having, shall we?
