Ninjas FTW. Pirates are cool and all though I don't think they're very useful in a fight, for one, most of them are handicapped. eg. Eyepatch, pegleg hook, here's a picture of your typical pirate.

Also, quite alot of pirates have scurvy, Here are the symptoms found on wikipedia:

"The spots are most abundant on the thighs and legs, and a person with the ailment looks pale, feels depressed, and is partially immobilized. In advanced scurvy there are open, suppurating wounds and loss of teeth."

Partially immobilized. :shock:

My final point would be that pirates get their asses handed to them by kiddies.

The samurai trained unarmed combat as well and the infamous ninjutsu wasn't in fact a martial art all in itself but rather a combination of skills required for assassinations. ^^

Pirates have ranged weapons, ninjas havent, or at least theyre not as effective as the ones pirates are using.

Ah well, in that case I would respond in a fanboyish fashion (keeping in mind what I said before) that the ninja would attack the pirate at night with poisoned ninja stars, blowpipes with poisoned darts and/or bows - considering the accuracy of old handguns this might not have been that much of an unequal fight. ^^

BUT b4 i do.... in the early days it was called bad luck 2 have a women on board a ship, sooooooooooooo no women were allowed... but what happened in the 6-12 months at sea? I mean... spanking the monkey... choking the chicken... i mean... just fapping has its limits.... So IMHO, pirates r GAY! At least ninjas can deny this :)

Therefore pirates sail from town to town for some... umm... diversification of all that wrecking, plundering and counting the gold. ^^

Yeah well - then your animated GIF pretty much showed what would happen. ^^

About pirates and eye patches - anybody who watched Mythbusters and knows something about aviation (yes, aviation =) history will realize that most of the eye-patched pirates were NOT blind on one eye but wore the eyepatch to have one eye constantly accustomed to very dark conditions inside the ship. It's true that they sacrificed stereoscopic vision but that wasn't that important anyway - much more important was that they didn't bump their heads while running inside the ship and not be blinded by the sun when exiting (they shifted the eye patch of course).

Why did I mention aviation? Because pilots in the early 20th century used the very same trick. =)

We tried duking it out with Baal as to whether Ninjas or Pirates (and Kurzicks or Luxons) are better but we just managed to prove how pointless 1on1 is in Guild Wars, where everything is centered around the interaction of many player classes with each other and counter-builds.

I started as my Degen Nuker elementalist but Baal took out his warrior with Dwarven Battle Stance (interrupts all spells on a hit) and hence there was no way for me to win (he had some nice self-heals from being a secondary Dervish as well).

Then I took out my annoying Ritualist that actually is more of an Assassin (uses some Rt skills to buff her dagger skills :-D) and pwned Baal in turn.

Then Baal returned with his Necromancer and had he managed to pull of his complete combo I'd have been fucked but he didn't have his heart in it anyways since he wanted to fight some monsters and left later. ^^

Result: still no conclusion as to whether ninjas or pirates are cooler. ;-)
