Yeah, I'm amazed that they reproduced it so faithfully (taking some deliberate shortcuts so as not to spoil the gameplay). Of course handily placed piles of rubble keep you "on track" most of the time but this never feels forced and you really immerse yourself in traversing a ruined city. Hell, they even reproduced the (now ghoul-infested) metro system! By the way - do you have your doggie dog already, Baal? :-D Also, did you destroy Megaton or kept it intact by disarming the bomb? I disarmed it and am enjoying my home in there that has all the gimmicks by now including a "love nest" interior styling. ;-) I went for being a good guy all the way (even though I hack a terminal or loot a house from time to time for a tiny bit of negative karma :-P) and am so loved by everybody in the Wastelands (except the bad guys who are sending assassins after me all the time - which is good, because I can repair my combat armor with their model of it ^^) that each day the inhabitants give me some kind of present as a sign of appreciation. :-D |

Yeah, I agree with Baal on the buying thing. And the bugs? Well - I'd say it is a safe bet to download a, uhm, "fully featured demo" to see if the game works well before deciding on a purchase. As much as we wrote about the bugs they can't really overshadow the absolutely amazing gameplay experience. Trust me - I'm not a fan of cRPGs (although I was a fan of Fallout 1 and 2 ^^) and I didn't like Oblivion - in fact I was very, VERY skeptical and reluctant to even try Fallout 3 so I was even more amazed at how brilliant the thing turned out to be. |

I'd get it i think it's brilliant. The quests are engaging, the combat can be quite challenging but is so far is never been too hard (I just run away ![]() I play a good guy too ![]() |

After trying the game for a good few hours I had alot of fun, though found the fighting repeditive and boring, the quests are sweet though. ![]() |

I never played a Fallout game and I guess I never saw some vids of #1 & #2, but because Fallout 3 was well anticipated I took a look at some gameplay vids. And yeah, I was really dissapointed. The fights I saw: you just run op to the enemies, stand right in front of them and try to shoot them in the face. They seemed to act like idiots & it didn't look very challenging. Now that was what I saw, but you can still show me some other vids to prove me the contrary! ![]() ![]() |

Post subject: | Re: Fallout 3 day yay! |
Yeah, the fights are not that interesting but they are not the "meat" of the game. Also, running towards your enemy is not always the best option - try that with Enclave soldiers or Super Mutants... The fights DO get interesting when you have allies and when you are attacked from multiple sides - that's when tactics, choice of weapons, cover etc. start to come in. Remember - Fallout 3 is NOT a shooter. It's a first person RPG and hence the quests, locations etc. are the most interesting aspect of the game. When I look at my kill stats I realize that you don't even do that much fighting in Fallout 3 and that is good because some games are ridiculous at sending EVERY single creature on the planet after you. |

Okay, well I didn't know it was an RPG... ![]() But still, I hope fights get more interesting as you said Lim. Cause what I've seen was not really that interesting. But I think it's better not to judge the game only by what I've seen. ![]() |

OK - now I'm going to finish the game as soon as possible. I got pissed at it. My dog glitched out the wrong exit of a building and then, when I tried to get him unglitched through fast traveling the game just told me that he died. Since I had a quicksave I tried going back to the building and looking for him but he was nowhere to be found - not even his corpse. WTF? Whatever - now I have a ghoul companion (I had some Brotherhood of Steel sissy but she was awful :-P) to whom I gave a Lincoln's Repeater and he owns so hard that I could just as well stop fighting altogether. I cheated myself some T-51b Power Armors since the original one can't be repaired once it has been picked up and now both me and my ghoul companion (Charon) roam the wastes with our 1337 equipment. :-D Another advantage of this setup is that it hides Charon's ugly face. ;-) |

A'right. I've tried to purchase this game numerous times off of Steam and it's been bugged to fuck. I didn't want to get it for the PC in case it was bugged and yet I can't even get past the buying stage. Literally. I'll pick it up tomorrow but I'll be getting it for the 360. Hell, at least I can play it whilst lying in my bed. |

I'm pleased and surprised by the amount of time they've spent with the artwork, radio stations etc. Even the dialogues seem better. Overall, imo, the world looks nice and has feeling. Otherwise, the combat system is boring, buggy and lacks any kind of challange. Well, it might sound okay at first or after watching some trailers but the AI is a drunk, sexually abusing midget about to share a tent with you. Not to mention that even while playing on Very Hard you get to go face to face with enemies and come out barely scratched. Meeeh. I guess I could call it a good or okay game, but it's supposed to be Fallout 2's sequel. ![]() |

The thing is - patches for PC games are released quite often, the first one for Fallout 3 is already out. Patches for consoles must undergo certification and Fallout 3 on e.g. XBox 360 has a plethora of bugs as well - gameplay wise (not crash wise) they're virtually the same as on the PC.

oh btw in the best german pc magazin fallout 3 is the best adventure/rpg game ever with 93% ;D
Fixed occasional crashes when exiting the game or using Alt F4 to exit. * Fixed crashes when using Alt-Tab while binks or credits were playing. * The game now restarts properly after title updates finish installing. |
