Found this old thread when I used the search function so I don't need to make a new one :)
Even though I signed up for the beta somewhere in september last year or so, I didn't get in. So I was left to watch the videos of the game, and so I did. And I watched them again just cause they were so cool.
So! Now I'm here with a preordered GA and have just finished enjoying the first hours of play, and I gotta say, it sure is awesome! Note that I still consider it awsome even though there are no instant kill backstabs a lá spy here, even though I'm playing the stealthy class :>
Anyway, point is I'm wondering if anyone else here around have preordered it or is interested in it? Would be cool to have a SpA agency in there if enough people would join :)

I am interested, but I'll have to see how pricey it is, don't like spending money.

I have opened a GBP bank account under my name for you to save all your money to. I promise I will take great good care of it and you will never ever have to feel bad or guilty again for reckless spending. And the cherry on top is that I'm willing to do all this for free.
What do you say, are you ready for the Sebas "Live healthy, happy and poor" 2 Step program?

I know that Kizron, Frosty and me are interested in it. Can you tell us how the beta is arranged, because we heard its only on certain times a week.. while the rest of the time its just offline.

As far as I know this beta schedule still stands; http://forum.globalagendagame.com/phpbb ... 121&t=8604
So it's open most of the time when you're not at work or doing other stuff during the day. I just bought it yesterday, and could play soon after I'd downloaded it, just some minor downtime due to a patch deployment. That said I don't know how it's been earlier in january, or how it will be later, but I'm guessing the schedule still stands.

Also from what I've heard they're gonna reset the accounts before it goes live, as sad it might sound. Couldn't find an official post, but didn't really look.

As for the pricing, aye, it hurt a bit. But it seems I was itching a bit too much when I bought it. There's a four-pack availible on steam and I didn't really notice ><

No? Not that I'm aware off. It's as open as it gets as far as I know. Everyone that preordered can play, and everyone can preorder, so it's not fully closed either :P
Where did you get the info from? Might've been something I've overlooked.

So game is out for a couple of days now. I am having quite a bit of fun with it! The classes are fairly balanced, but some slight tweaking is in need. The game is good fun, but I am questioning the worth of its so called MMO (which isn't really an MMO) part. Basically it comes down to the following. You join an agency who is part of an alliance, with a bit of luck its a good alliance and you can go attack stuff on the worldmap. The worldmap is divided into 6 different zones which open up for attacks at different time zones. Now that is pretty good, because you don't have to worry about your territory being ninja'd overnight, it is secure till the next day when it opens up again. The problem I have with it though is that it doesn't feel MMO like. You basically fight over a hex on the zone map against another agency/alliance, these fights are always 10 vs 10 unless they dont show up. You can do 10 vs 10 games normally as well, but here you of course get your agency/alliance name tagged on the hex. The idea is that you go and fight on the zone map and take hexes which will in turn produce resources for your alliance/agency. However the resources are basically only usefull for AvA (the mmo part) your personal avatar has no real benefit of it other than that your team might be able to deploy vehicles and other goodies on the map if you build them.

And there is the problem with the MMO part. The fights are basically always 10 vs 10. You yourself will not get any stuff from it as it is now. The map variation seems to be lacking as well, seeing that during beta I played the same maps all the time and now in launch I played another 2 and again exactly the same maps. So basically you are fighting for a little hex which will give you a bit of bragging rights in game.... I am sorry but do you really want me to pay 10 euro's per month for that? There was a game on the Xbox 360 called chromehounds wich basically had the same feature for free. I think Tom Clancy's endwar has the same thing going on as well. Only difference here is that instead of your faction winning space its your agency/alliance.

I used to play Planetside, and that game didn't really have much to offer in return for capping continents and bases, BUT it did feature large battles of up to 200 players. It had a grand scale that gave it the charm to actually pay a subscription for it. It had a lot of variety with different continents. If Global Agenda had this, I would probably be paying as the large scale powerstruggles with literally hundreds of people fighting on the same continent with eachother was awsome. Here its just a 10vs10 clanmatch with some extra bells and whistles. Might as well play the non subscription part of the game.

I am hoping that Hi-Rez will give us some details on what is to come in the coming months for subscribers because I really think its not worth paying this much money for at the moment.
