I'm still happy with my 27" Samsung I bought back some years ago. I costed ~600 EUR back then. ![]() If I'd look into getting a new TV nowadays, I'd be sure to check: 1) If I could get a LCD with LED backlighting (calling this "LED-TV" is plain stupid). 2) Check if a 100 Hz TV is really doing 100 Hz and not 50 Hz with doubled pictures which would be 100 Hz, too. ![]() Nevertheless: Samsungs have an awesome money-value-ratio. ![]() |

Still can't really decide, viewing angle makes it very hard, probably best to go with the IPS Alpha ![]() |

I like my Samsung TV. My model is LE32A766 (A high-end LCD model from last year). The image quality on it is better than any other TV, I've seen. My parents bought a medium-grade series 7 LED tv, and I don't like the image quality one bit. But what you should do, is to make a list of tv's you are interested, then go down at a local store outside rush hour, and ask them to turn off all the tv's they have on display, then turn on the tv's you are interested in one at a time to test it's image quality (Obviously, the clerks will only accept this at slow times of the day). The reason you need this, is because in most stores, all tv's gets the signal from the same source, and when you hook up 50 tv's to one source, the signal strength will not allow for optimal image quality. I've found that if you want a top-of-the-line TV, go for a high-end Samsung. If you want value-for-money, go for a Sony Bravia! |

spike makes a good point, regardless of brand, its always a smart idea to try and see it before you buy it, even if the signal is weak if it still looks good then you know when it does have a good signal source, it will look the tits. Plus seeing it first when it comes to the amount of cash you are spending is a very sensible idea. But dont listen to the twats that work there, they know nothing and just want the commission. My housemate was buying a tv the other day, and to be safe he brought along the entire video dept from work to the shop (me included) and the slob trying to sell us a TV without 24p over one that does and is cheaper, was full of crap. "oh but its 1080p" no you are full of crap. ![]() (FYI i do LOATH currys) |

This is the TV I'm getting. http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/c ... ll&tm=null LG's are horrendously overlooked, when they make bloody good TV's. The first ever Plasma screen I saw that really blew me away was a 60 inch LG. Granted, I hadn't seen any Pioneer's yet, but my point still stands. My last TV was an LG, and my next TV will be an LG. This one. |

If Mini can't have the TV in Hot Pink, then he's simply not interested. ![]() [SpA]Minimoose! wrote: Price, my parents are tight
Nah, it could happen.![]() You'd just have to compromise and go for a smaller TV, maybe around 26 inches, or go for a lesser known brand, like this Foehn and Hirsch. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/154998 |

Well it won't explode as long as you don't light the fuse so, I say go for it.

You're pretty hung up on viewing angles aren't you? Get an LG 32LH3000, it has a terrific viewing angle. And lookee here, Curry's are selling it for 389 English Squids. http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/c ... s%20Google And once again, the day is saved, thanks to DrMcMoist. Thanks for the suggestion, might be the one, I need to look at the WXGA panels in a store to see the extent of the viewing angle flaws, if they suck, then that panasonic might be the best option. Don't know if they want to buy one in the end, because they are cheap skates. |
