To gain a lot of fps do this:
1) go to my documents -> bfbc2beta
2) open settings.ini
3) change dxversion from auto to 9
Seems like the game cant handle dx10 at all and it probably forces it on vista/7 on cards supporting Dx10, switching it to dx9 can gain you up to 40-50 fps without losing much in terms of graphics quality.

Already tried it didn't help :( seems you do need a Intel Core 2 Quad or higher to run this game

I have had NO problems with lag or fps today.

Dont choose "Play now", cause you will be taken to a random laggy EA server. Instead, join a dedicated server through the "Browse servers" function (The one at the top, not the one on the right of the screen), and you will have no problems.

I played many rounds already and gathered 47 dogtags from 38 player ( the spy in me  ).
Usually I play on I3D.net servers because thats nearly everything the right history server browser shows, and the top one is crashing.
No real lag problems today.

Tried few servers, no way to tell if they lag or not due to lack of any connection bars/ping bars, but still one clip from assault rifle in the back of a guy wasnt enough. Patch is on its way though:

A new BFBC2 PC Beta client is on its way.
Don't worry it is a new painless process and will not be a massive 1.4Gb download again.
Watch this space for information on fixes and how to go about getting the RC2 Client.

The RC2 contains the following fixes:

Front end:
Fixes server browser crashes. Server browser more resilient against corrupt online service data, and better support for large number of servers.
Several server browser ping issues resolved.

Windows XP stability:
Fixed crash on windows XP at end of round, exit game and display mode changes and.
Proper window style / mouse confinement when starting game maximized on XP .

Options dialog:
Mouse sensitivity setting gives more effect.
Mouse sensitivity loaded on game startup.

The update to RC2 will be 8.4Mb

When you next start BFBC2 you should get this message (Steam users can update through Steam). If you have trouble updating by running the game itself go to \Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield Bad Company 2 - BETA and run BFBC2BetaUpdater.exe as Administrator.

ROTFL I was in the middle of a scoreboard playing on 20 fps, well we got lag free server and damage was better, sometimes its awesome, sometimes its whole clip wasted on one guy.

Ps : The patch solved... surprise... nothing :)
I can only play 5 min per 5 min tonight was fun, i love the concept to play stop and play again and wait and play and crash and relaunch.
Btw I'm joking, its a beta, i know for a public one that's really suxx. Wel, just hope some stuff will be ok soon, netcode ftw!

-Land your helicopter upside down

Lol I copied my helicopter controls from bf2, we stole apache with Dekar and owned another team quite hard.
Johnny I'm playing with 15-20 fps and I'm already at 4th level :ugly: And Im usually in upper half of the scoreboard  This game and engine was made for 30fps for consoles, so its almost playable at 25 fps, which I can achieve by using less popular routes and hitting people from behind. Altough its far worse game than bf2 for me its quite ok as something different to modern warfare, so with good performance and fixed bugs it would probably scored 8 from me ;)

Good God. I think it's time for me to jump ship from PC Gaming.

This would have been the only game that kept me playing, and from the sounds of it, it's seriously flawed.

Time to move to pastures new, methinks. :18

Also I hope hardcore mode will be as good for this game as hardcore in Modern Warfare 2 is.
Also people on official forums are reporting, that game runs really badly on dual core setups even with top level GPU's, you'll get much more fps on Quad cores with Gf 9600/9800, than on dual core with GF Gtx's, they also discovered, that game uses no more than 60-65% of GPU during the game, while Crysis can top 85%. I guess something went wrong while converting the engine to run on pc, cause Xbox can perform steady 30 fps ( which looks like Pc's 50 ) while looking at solid medium+ pc details in 720p.

Finally got the game working relatively well: 20-50 FPS with an average on 30 i think, it never goes below 20 even in the most stressfull conditions ( lots of people, big explosions) and the only thing i did was to set the directx version to 9 and change everything lo low (except for the effect to medium BLOOM for the win :ugly: ). Anyways the developers are bragging on their Twitter page that their going to optimize this game and that there's no need to upgrade. :ugly:

I'm suspecting they might release a special device later on for the small price of $99.99 which contains a prone button.

That's very unlikely to happen. :) A decision about prone is decided way back in the pre-production, cause the whole game design has to be built around the possibilites.

It's a good business plan tbh. I'd pay $99,99 for that prone button! :ugly:

How's the mouse support in the game? Any mouse lag? Also, is the player limit in multiplayer locked at 32 players?

Post subject:  Re: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC demo announcement

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a great game, and I can see why they did not put in a prone button. I know Saint needs it so he can roll his J, but I think this game is a lot more balanced than the previous battlefields have been. I really feel that vehicles are more of a support for the infantry instead of being the pwnmobiles. No jetfighters mean no crying in anguish as you get bombed back to the stone age for the bazzilionth time when spawning. The helicopters are powerfull but a couple of guys with RPG's can give them a run for their money.

I must say this has to be one of the most enjoyable Battlefield experiences, and I hope that Battlefield 3 will strike the same balance as this one managed to do.
