AVP on Wii... :ugly:

btw: This game won't be sold in Germany at all. They simply don't give it to the dealers cause they feared to get indexed (Call ya it the same in English?). Massive headbutt vs all German AVP fans. :4

The game is localised for the german language.

Releasing in Germany would have meant we cut out all the action, fun and gore - which removes all the character from the game. I bet Australian fans felt the same way but now they are allowing the game to be released there with no cuts - (unlike l4d2 which suffered bad reviews in Australian due to the content censorship)

most instances i dislike censorship as it ruins ideas.

so blame your government, not the developer.

Insta kills(harvesting, trophy kills etc), are those available in multiplayer? Cuz if so, it will be very much overpowered. I hate to see people going alien just to insta kill and be cocks by saying they are godlike etc.

The original games did have insta kills, but u had to aim for the head in a sneaky way, by going in slowly wait for the marine to turn around and go forward again and stop if they turned back. Allowing you to be actually a hunter and a baddass alien if you actually succeeded in those headbites. And when those happened, the marine would freak out :D

Yes you can, but there is balance to it. Stealth kills can be preformed easily from behind, but trophy/finishing moves require some damage to be done to the target before able to instigate. The balance is, when you perform a trophy or stealth kill move you are vulnerable to attack as it leaves you defenceless whilst you perform it. So I stealth kill you, but get stealth killed myself whilst doing it, so sometimes its better to finish them quickly and save the trophy kills for when you know you have the time to do it.

Post subject:  Re: [AvP] Alien v Predator

So the headbites are performed with a special move that causes you to stand upright and do it? And in the process of being molested yourself?

Post subject:  Re: [AvP] Alien v Predator

Yeah it's a grapple mechanic, but if you dont inflict enough damage sometimes then the target can parry out of it.

Like in TF2 when u do a taunt kill, you are vulnerable for a few seconds, its like that, only do it when its worth it. Plus in doing those kind of kills means you get more xp points and achievements etc etc.

Never played CoD, but I did enjoy the Rainbow 6 las Vegas, the xp there only unlocked weapons which was fun.
Will be interesting to see how it works in AvP either way :)

Neither gov, nor dev... I blame the publisher. You don't have to cut the game for a release at all. Only if you wanna have it in the store shelves with an 18+ sign on it. Being indexed it's not allowed to be shown in public or promoted:
Quote:
Legal consequences

The legal consequences of a work being listed on the Index are enumerated in § 15 Jugendschutzgesetz[2] (law for the protection of minors):

1. It must not be sold, provided or otherwise made accessible to minors.
2. It must not be displayed where it can be seen by minors. This would, for example, include playing an indexed game in the presence of minors.
3. It must be sold only within a shop. Basically selling indexed titles per mail order is illegal, however it is permissible if the package may only be handed over to a specified adult person, who has to present ID.
4. It must not be rented out, except in a shop inaccessible to minors. This is why most video rentals in Germany are not accessible for minors - otherwise they would not be allowed to rent out certain horror (and adult) films.
5. It must not be imported by mail order. In this case even an adult buyer is subject to penalty.
6. It must not be advertised or announced in a place where the announcement or advertisement could be seen by minors.
7. If it is for one of the above six causes, production, acquiring, and holding in store are subject to penalty too.

It is a matter of dispute whether criticism or discussion of indexed works is allowed in works that are accessible to young people. Public prosecutors have not been unanimous in this regard, but publishers tend to err on the side of safety: In the German version of Marc Saltzman's Game Design: Secret of the Sages, for example, the titles of indexed games were replaced by random strings matching only first letter and length.
So it would be at least buyable... now all Germans are forced to order in in Austria (for German version :ugly:) or UK (for cheap version :ugly:). I'm sure it would sell quite good in Germany... being indexed or not. Not selling it at all on one of the biggest European gamer markets... that's just plain stupid and totally ignorant.

As a caveat to the following and previous posts, I apologise to you, Protect: I did not realise you actually worked for Rebellion, I thought you were merely a tester.

That said I fucking LOATHE this new culture of demo-less pre-orders. There is no company or IP in the world that could force me to hand over £25-40 sight-unseen, especially now that games are of such poor quality thanks to M$ and its blood-sucking "console". The entire industry makes me sick to my stomach and so angry that I am glad that the chances of me ever running into a member of a given dev team are so low as I do not wish to spend to subsequent 15-25 in jail...

Post subject:  Re: [AvP] Alien v Predator

lol i thought you knew i worked for them, a mere tester is a bit harsh, i used to do QA for the company a year before becoming a video artist which ive been doing for 2 years now. It's not something to be sniffed at, QA is a really good way to get in the door and also teaches you the entire structure and different disciplines of video game production.

I am not sure if they have official announced a demo, but im not allowed to say to they do.

If you get the pc version its only 17quid on amazon :)

shhh deetch!

honestly thou, i didn't. no disrespect blackhawk, i have to read shit like that at work all the time and bores the crap out of me as i was desensitised to sex and violence at a very young age. The game is an +18, i can vouch for that as I made the killmoves trailer.

It's only being released in Oz as a 15 so that they can actually release it there, (according to the articles i think) but with no cuts.
