through the mass pant-wetting that is the steam forums I have been able to discern one nugget of wisdom; that it could be that for every 25 wrenches found, a new page will be added to the update (hence why the counter is now at 24 going onto 25). ergo, if you craft all your stuff now - before they get the next page up - you could just be wasting your time. might be complete rubbish this, but it sort of makes sense. be cautious before you go and throw your stockpile of KGB's down the drain now!

with the 25th wrench find comes the new shotgun. which looks farking overpowered, but very awesome at the same time. it's on the usual update page.
...I really should get some sleep now : (

Wow, that does seem pretty lackluster :? was hoping for something that would let the engi get further away from his sentry, not rely on it more :| The fact that its a shotgun means you need to be pretty close to do anything more than a few points of damage with those crits, suppose it would be useful for when a spy comes along and tries to mess with your sentry, but its not like the wrench doesn't already insta-crit spies once your guns got a kill or 2 which makes this kinda redundant, hopefully there will be something that links together with this like the Targe and Eyelander do :?

The only real use for this off the top of my head is for offensive engis who place a lvl 1 sentry, let it get a kill, destroy it, and then place a new one in a new location and use the crits on this to increase the total damage the engi can do, rinse and repeat. though the only realistic way this strategy would work is if the P.D.Q is the wrench unlock.

and only 100 wrenches, lame, at least its random this time and not just given to people who happen to click a link on the site that shows up when half the players are asleep

By 'Bonus Crits when the sentry is destroyed', is that only if it got a kill? Because I can see engineers having a script to build a sentry and instantly destroy it just so they get crits...

No ones seems to know anything exact, but so far the theory is that the golden wrenches drop in timed intervals (makes sense since if it was truly random it could give all 100 in a day or, more likely with the way the crappy random drop system is, a few months) with 25 dropping everyday, with it looking like the last day will be a Thursday which is consistent with other class updates. If you craft something around the time a wrench drops it gives you the chance to find it along with whatever you crafted.

according to rumor crafting metal and uncrafting it doesn't count when the wrench drops, which really sucks seeing as how valve didn't remove the drop limit for the week, no stuff dropping means nothing to craft, but since thats just a rumor it might be worth trying (i will be* ), especially if you don't have any items to craft.

Edit: *= apparently i won't be since it just keeps saying blueprint not found when i try and turn my reclaimed back into scrap :(
