Yes the animé sucks, yes the core mechanic is pretty much the same since Pokemon Red/Green/Blue, but enslaving cute little critters and having them compete in mandatory death fights whenever you cross eyes with someone is FUN and just never gets old.

A FEAR Rattata is pretty cool too by the way. Excellent trolling material when playing online.

Not really, I think Lim's right there's a bunch of us that are a generation behind the whole thing. I never saw the point and don't really care, but people get so defensive about it that its fun to needle them a little.

Thing is I'm sure there's stuff from my generation all you guys would be like "WTF seriously? this is shit." and I'd defend it in the same way.

Woah, such hate. I was 8 when I started playing pokemon, I enjoyed it and thought it was the only and best game in the universe.
If you play a game like that when you're older it completely loses its charm.

When I was playing through Pokemon Blue, my best Pokemon was a Diglett which eventually evolved into a Dugtrio.

I didn't set out with the intention of making my best Pokemon essentially look like some underground willy, but that's just the way it all panned out. And I for one couldn't have been happier. Unless I was up against a flying Pokemon....
