They will be turned off when we return to the main map though since they lag the server to shit. We might eventually introduce mob zone since there are numerous plugins that allow area-based mob control.

Yeah just enable mobs for the server but we will make "everywhere" a sanctuary when they are initially released, and when they become stable change them to spawn everywhere, just take away the creeper damage via WorldGuard if that is a real function and I didn't make it up?

Yeah, you can disable it via WorldGuard - you can ALSO disable it via Realms now. :-D

I always loved that show.

Plus, it is, in hindsight, very applicable to Notch. As in "Please don't push the button that will result in me being unable to join for days at a time, Notch!"

Another hilarious bit of info. Some of you perhaps know about the most prestigious Independent Games award ceremony, the IGF (Independent Games Festival) - past winners went on to make quite a name for themselves like the Narbacular Drop team (-> Portal), Braid, World of Goo and many others...

Well, when you play singleplayer your computer has to generate chunks, handle mob spawning and AI, keep track of drops, and calculate light. When you play SMP, the server does that all for you.

Well, it should, but it shouldn't need to send packets about it. Its fairly common for multiplayer to be computationally faster than singleplayer.
