My brother and I used to play that game all the fricking time :P It's "Crash Team Racing"

Crash Team Racing was indeed an awesome game, but the following game was even better:

You mean Spyro the Dragon?

Ha, I guess that's the moment where a professional video game journalist should come in and surprise all of you with some exotic title he had to suffer through...

Have no fear, Lim is here. :-D

I will give you a bunch of screens to go on but if you played the game let alone BOUGHT it you must be friggin' retarded. =)

Hints?

It's a game from 2006.

I gave it 2/10 in one magazine and 1 star out of five in another. =)

The game features the most atrocious bloom and motion blur effects (to make up for the crappy models and a lack of FSAA) ever seen in gaming history. (Screenshot 2 - it's actually the beginning of the game.)

The game features one of the most retarded storylines where only the main protagonist and his... sister (WTF?) can defuse a nuclear warhead transported by terrorists on an oil tanker. (That might be too much of a hint for potential Google searches =)

One protagonist is an offensively stereotypical American, the other one is a no-less stereotypical Brit with a preposterous accent.

The final boss is as moronic as the rest of the enemies in the game but takes a million bullets to the head to die - I really used up ALL the ammo in the room and unloaded all my guns and killed him with the last bullet in my pistol. ;-)

For most of the game you have an ally that blocks doorways and your line of sight and more often than not gets stuck somewhere only to teleport mysteriously right in front of you.

Enemies clip through walls and doors.

The dialog is so unintentionally funny and cheesy that it was the only thing that kept me going to the very end.

One of the protagonists has "X-ray vision" as his special ability but it's friggin' useless because enemies appear suddenly from thin air when you trigger some scripts anyway...

The other protagonist has bullet-time but it's useless as well because it makes EVERYTHING move slower - your guns aren't more accurate, YOU aren't more accurate, the enemies are still as accurate as ever - the only thing it's good for is watching yourself die in slo-mo. ;-)

The game has Arab suicide bombers running around waving their AK-47s in the air like retards instead of shooting with them and running at you like some monster from Serious Sam. (Screenshot 1)

The health recharges like 1 hp per second and only up to 25 hp which makes the system both slow and useless.

OK - enough hints for now. ^^

Weeell - then ignore my post even though Spyro the Dragon is right. Nobody will guess my game anyway. :-P

P.S. Is it the game "Gothic" by any chance? I hate cRPGs (unlike pen&paper RPGs) but for a few exceptions so it's not really a topic I am well versed in but I have to be at least partially aware of the genres I'm not usually "working with". =)

P.P.S. If I'm right with Gothic then DO NOT ignore my last post. ^^

Hey - hold on a second - my game hasn't been identified yet and I guessed both Gothic and Spyro the Dragon correctly - they were the "ends" of the two "discussion forks" that have appeared in the topic. Don't created another forked discussion. :-P

Holy f***! How did you do that? You must be persistent. ;-)

Did you check all the FPSes from 2006? :-D

P.S. I can send you the game (original copy!) per mail free of charge as your prize money - interested? ^^

P.P.S. Your game is another cRPG, I guess... Why, oh, why? Could you at least confirm that it is a console game? Looks like one from the PS1 era with pre-rendered backdrops.

Uhh... one day off and such an easy one. Gothic (1) FTW! ^^

But dunno the one from Doomshine... although it looks like something I should have played. ;)

Seriously? All the way to Finland? I'll admit, it's tempting.

It is a PS1 game and yes it's an RPG, it came on 4 discs.

In case someone thinks I'm just randomly picking obscure games just to mess with you, you're wrong! I have in fact played all the games I've posted.

Well - from what I gather it'd be only around 2-3 Euros. That much money I can spare. I'd have to translate the menus because they are in Polish (the rest of the game is in English). On the other hand you would HAVE to play the game from start to end to suffer through it as I have. ^^

I have played "The Mark" as well. ^^

Gothic is very popular in Poland as well.

Update: @Doomshine: Found it! Ehm... I mean... I just recalled what game this is by reaching deep into my vast knowledge of gaming history even though I never owned a PS1, nor have played or seen the game in question. ;-)

It's Koudelka! ^^

Hold on for the next question while I'm rummaging through "ye olde boxe of shitty games I had to review". :-D

OK, there you go - it's actually a game I found quite enjoyable even though it received very poor reviews - just goes to show that there's no shame in enjoying flawed titles. Yes, the combat is repetitive, the "magical power gimmicks" lose their appeal quickly, the story is moronic and the game is short but all in all I still liked it. ^^

ImageImageImageImage

No hints for now - there was a bit of hype surrounding this game so someone might have actually played it. I can still provide hints later. =)

Pfff - I knew that at first glance - I would have been faster than you, Blackhawk, if I hadn't bothered to find out if it was "Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars" or "Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror"... I think it's the former.

Now bring on your game so I may guess it in 0.5 seconds. :-P
