If cookye thinks it's worth posting in words about something, you better believe him.

It's not that bad if you can find a decent server ( the german ones are good  ) you can play the game for 4 hours without any connection problems or crashes. I never played a Battlefield game before but i got to admit it's addictive, the whole leveling up unlocking weapons collecting badges :ugly: .

Is it true that the performance is a lot better in the full game, as opposed to the horrendous performance in the demo?

Well if you have nVidia card you still can get horrendous frames even on gtx's, its kinda random, radeons works like charm. Here are some benchmarks ( top value is average fps, lower value - lowest fps recorded )

Here an interesting one - % increase in performance after forcing game to use directx9 only, as we can see nVidia cards benefit a lot after sacrificing dx10 and its effects.

All test without HBAO, which isnt that good and can decrease your performance by 50%.

Only thing that worries me from what I've read is that hardcore servers are sniper fests - up to 80% players are snipers, due to 1 shot in the foot = kill. On the other hand normal servers are rocked by people with m16, which is by faaaar the best gun in the game, while you can hit someone in the face with shotgun 5 times without killing. Might be due to all kind of lags I've read about, gonna get my copy in couple of days though, mw2 starts to become really repetetive.

well my card will handle it fine, runs crysis on full spec at 60fps just fine, but meh doesnt sound that interesting. ill watch some more videos and trailers.

The game is heavy CPU dependent and doesn't even use the video card that much but hopefully whit a couple of patches they can fix that.

I had problems connecting to the servers the past two days (from around 19 to 22 CET). Outside this time frame, and the entire day today there have been no problems.

Also if you try to join a server and after the please wait nothing happens, go back to the main menu and you will find that you aren't logged in.... just log in again and try joining a server again. Doesn't seem to happen as often as at launch anymore..

Finally managed to play some more and It's awesome - Rush is a bit sniper fest sometimes, and autobalance doesnt work, so once teams ended in proportions of 20vs12  but conquest is great, maps are fantastic, weapon damages are well balanced for that kind of game, I would say they're nearly the same as in bf2, but since maps are so big hardcore modes are annoying, since you die a lot from random bullets sprayed across the map. I had a great run with some random guys and we owned like 3 straight rush maps - 2 of them lasted at least 30 minutes of non stop action  To balance things out and complain it badly need seperate sensitivities for land and air vehicles - i'm playing at about half the sensitivity for infantry but for tanks is soooo daaamn slooow. But then blowing sniper with the roof he's camping on is one of those moments when you forget about those little issues and enjoy blowing map to pieces

I quite like that actually, a tank turret shouldn't spin as fast as a person :p

Of course I just cheat with my mouse and put the sensitivity up a notch (<3 g9)

Other than that I haven't found too many bugs besides the server browser stuff, which is normal in a battlefield game... Even now the Battlefield 2 server browser is still a buggy piece of crap and that game is how old now?

As for optimization the game still has trouble utilizing GPU - CPU load sits at 80-90% on both cores, while GPU load rarely exceeds 40%. In Modern Warfare 2 however both CPU and GPU sits at about 80% giving extra smooth 70 frames on max details :/ Found a brilliant quote about this
Quote:
my Nintendo DS emulator uses more of my graphics card than this game does...50-60% on emulator, 10-25% on bad company 2

"Auto-spotting" sniper scope doesn't work. The +100% Grenade ammo also gives you rifle-launched grenades. Vehicle motion sensor is useless, since all vehicles have motion sensors anyway (at least they do for me). Secondary gun works for MOST vehicles (UAV included). There are a few exceptions. They do not work when you are the gunner in a vehicle.

As far as I have gathered, having the damage reduction on as a gunner, does apply to the tank. Therefore, I usually take a tank with the the +25% damage done upgrade and have a gunner with the -25% damage taken upgrade.

Hmm I rather have 25% faster reload on my tanks, makes a miss a lot less lethal in tank battles ;)
