So, Notch has announced a save file format change, which is actually epic news. BUT, obviously he had to get his priorities straight in a Notch-like fashion.
The biggest upcoming feature as mentioned on his blog? CAKE!

Guys, stop joking. Today is serious time. Minecraft update announced, which means everything will fucking break and hMod is dead (i.e. not being maintained) while Bukkit (its replacement) is not ready yet. We might be seeing another week of a temporary map or something. :-\
