I've held Paul Gilbert in my arms and proceeded to get a signed pick and poster, now framed in my room.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the embrace as it was a spur of the moment thing as I saw him walking outside of the venue.

Oh man, you're lucky, the closest I'll ever get to him will be a signature guitar of his that I'll soon buy. :|

It was insane! The fact that someone so big in the guitar world came to sleepy old Canberra, Australia was mind blowing enough, let alone getting a very intimate guitar clinic + meet and greet.

I missed out last time he came to Aus. I'm hoping he comes to Sydney some time soon though since he's back with Mr. Big but they're touring around Europe, USA and Japan this year. I can always hope for someone like Satch to come though.

I'll be looking them up.

First one is slowcore (the suffix core does not mean it has any relation to hardcore/metal/etc.),
second is post-folk (I have no idea what that's supposed to mean),
and the third is metal, hooray for metal.

You'll probably have to turn your volume up to hear this one.

Amazing track.

Again, hooray for metal.

A lot of slowcores main players came from the punk/post punk/post hardcore scene in the US, especially true of Codeine and Red House Painters.

That aside I fucking love Low, Songs for a Dead Pilot is one of my all time favourite releases and is perhaps my favourite EP of all time. I cant say how many times I've been to see them live since Long Division for fear of looking as much of a fanboy as I sound.

Also Arab Strap and Boris... I saw Boris just after Absolutego in Tokyo utterly captivating, I go see them every chance I get now.

Ah slowcore.

You saw them when Long Division came out? I am thoroughly impressed because I also fucking love Low. I've only seen them once (Retribution Gospel Choir too) because they rarely play here (besides the time I saw them, the last time they played here was during the first Godspeed tour with Labradford too).

I am also impressed that you saw Boris after Absolutego, that's just insane.

Here's a couple other things I think are worth posting;

Everyone loves Mogwai, or at least they should.

I saw the Appleseed Cast on their Low Level Owl tour last year, and it was absolutely one of the most incredible shows I've ever been to.

And probably my favorite ambient band, Stars of the Lid.
So incredible.

We'll get stuck in the 90's here and I'll end up posting nothing but Slint, Rodan, Polvo and Drive Like Jehu again.

Shit's not my style I'm afraid. Not freaked enough, not deviating enough from what I find normal, thus boring.

Shit needs to be freaked for me a lot , or in some way grabbing my interest, stuff from Dj Shadow , Amon Tobin, Boards of Canada is the freaked stuff that comes to mind right now  All electronic. But hey, I'm glad tastes differs.
The ambient stuff , or metal kind of stuff is not for me.

This is I think the easiest to listen to song from Amon Tobin, the rest can be quite heavy, something I like to throw at me under shrooms

*edit*

Probably a repost, I don't care

If we don't post enough old epic stuff and post too much of this modernistic heartless crap, I'll just start posting the real stuff

Hehehe

Now take me back in time with a big bag of weed
