When did basic math get this interesting?

Also, what the hell does C1, C2 etc, mean? I'm assuming it has something to do with your school system or whatever. :|

AS level mathematics you do Core 1, Core 2 and another one (I did Mechanics 1). In A level mathematics i'm doing Core 3, Core 4 and Mechanics 2.

Core 1-4 are pure mathematics and include calculus and a lot of algebraic stuff.

Mechanics 1 is pretty much just basic mechanics, then mechanics 2 is the same except mixed in with a lot more algebra.

I find M's a lot more interesting than the C's because they have got more practical application when your taught, where-as in the Core's your mainly just taught how to do it and not much more.

I'm doing Further Maths next year but I don't really know what it includes except for the module names ;)

Reminds me of my CS studies... we learned a lot of mathematics just for the cause of it. :18

It's because we were learning to think a certain way. That's what one of my teachers told me when I pointed out that out of my 5 year uni studyding cs a whole year was dedicated to math only, math of which I now remember nothing about. And by learning to think a certain way he could only mean black&white since math for the not so genius fellows like myself is the most restricting study to do since you have a good solution only and that's already been proven so the only thing you do is repeat what a bunch of XVIIth century rich dudes did with their time (they had no internet back then, man!) and lie to yourself that you fully understand the logical steps and could have come up with it on your own if you cared enough.

Yeah, that was time really well spent.
