I just think engi is a class which is only there to slow the game down, at least in public when there are too many of them. Thats why engi needs a limit.

Also keep in mind that engineer is on average the class with the most noobs playing it.
I'd like to think that the skill level and the quality of the games on our servers are pretty high compared to other public servers. So if we loose one or two noobs that only play engi, I have to say that's a good thing.

True, on badlands its a big problem because every time I play on the losing team we have at least 2 engineers who decide it's a good idea to build on the last point at the start of the round, or in front of the second spawn, which of course is a brilliant idea when middle is so hard to recapture.

Yeah, brilliant argument there. The engineers never push, which is what is needed on a ctf map, the only time they move is so they can camp at middle. You can't give me the 'they can be support by setting up teleporters' because the map is small enough for someone to walk to the middle in no time. Pretty much it makes the map too easy to camp and pull to a standstill (When you're are attacking or defending, it doesn't matter). My post before that last one explains the tactics better of why engineers mess up turbine so much, so go read it then do a sensible reply.
See there is one thing you forget, if engineers don't push who got the middle? Aren't they allowed to consolidate the middle with an engineer? Clearly if the other team is 5 engineers and they manage to take over middle, they deserve to put a sentry there. I am against 5 engies on CTF, against 4 or 3 as well. But 2 or 1 engie does not make the map unplayable. Just like 1 or 2 demoman don't, but 5 of them do.

Point is, its stupid that when those maps got put back in the engi limit immediately has gone to 0. It should have been 2 at first and then perhaps if still justified to 1, and if it still causes sooooo much trouble for you then you should l2p tbh. Because 1 engi setting up near spawn is no different then 1 demoman camping near spawn with stickies. Hell the demoman is faster at getting control over the area back then an engi who needs to get his sentry to level 3 first.

And I love the part about engineers never pushing and that that is needed on CTF maps.. Guess what a couple of people are doing right now? They sit at the intel the whole round picking their noses while detonating their stickies every now and then.

Since the classlimiter immunity worked even for engis when we introduced the 0 limit on ctf maps, there were always 1 or 2 engis on either team. And as the reaction by the huge majority of players show, 0 engis is better than 1 or 2. In fact, the only one of our members/regulars that has anything against this limit is you Crovax.

the maps were origionally removed due to the constant stalemate issue, hence the engineers change at re-introducing the maps.

Without a change those maps would not have been re-added as its pointless. Now their fun to play again.

im actually agreeing with crovax on this one...yea you need atleast one engi....one engi wont be abpe to cut of all the ways to go in a efficent way. (exception "shit fort")

But whats wrong with 0 engis at ctf + hydro ? I mean hydro still ends in a sudden death most of the rounds, so 0 or 8 engis there doesnt make much difference, but number of people complaining about 0 engis is almost none, and if someone is complaining he is usually newcomer to the server. I understand the idea of "engi is part of the game", but standard ctf maps can be defended with 1 sentry, and on public server 1 sentry can sometimes stop your team for a long time.

hydro should stay as it is.....but all ctf(exception 2fort) should have engi limit 1

I stopped playing last night as soon as we got to pipeline and thought "I wish this was not in the cycle" and I wake up the next morning and hey presto, Saint the mind reading has done the deed :D
