Lol, so true. Notch sold all of us a finished product, and hes dicking around making jokes with his steve co store and adding things because some idol of his nudged him at a convention. Meanwhile, he has pretty much promised much more content than he already has in place, including entire game modes. THe game, as is, is unplayable in multiplayer without copious quantities of mods that are essentially hacks of his server software. Eventually he's going to have to draw a line and say, ok, we're officially released, and I don't see him getting all hes said he'll do done in time. I'm afraid to even go near the legal ramifications of that. Oh, in other news, 1000th post. |

You know what the best part is? Most of the people don't even see the bad side to it. They just see "Cool! Dogs!", rather than "Dogs!? Shit just hit the fan in SMP again! Imagine the lag!". But we've already discussed this, many times. |

Hafnium made a good point once upon a time; Once Notch's API comes out, he should just hand over all possible content/upgrading for the game to the modders who can actually...yknow...make things. |

Yes, but then people will whine that he's not making the game. What he should do is hire people to ghost-write content and code updates for him, creating the illusion that he is doing work and dispersing cash throughout the community. |

@notch Give SMP modders the ability to have clients DL new content, a la source games, and then fix minecraft's buggy core. Take modifications that the community churns out that are exceptional, and incorporate them into the core. Set up a Mojang moderated mod distribution system. The modders will love you, and the players will love you, and your game will be insanely playable. Mods give it all the replay value you could ever dream of, AND you're still making money off the community. Everyone would win. Or we can keep adding things like wolves and gag chests on top of the teetering pile of shit without addressing core issues like the fact that I can't exit a boat without vibrating in the air for a minute. |
