Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy882ILY ... ideo_title What do you think? I feel like rain should sound different, it sounds too much like a loop now. Thunder sound is a must. And the rain and snow should ease in, first clouds, then rain. |

Yeah my mate showed me this last week. I'm not looking incredibly forward to it. I do like the snow freezing the water over though. The lightening with the lava at the bottom is going to be annoying as FUCK. |

I like the look of the snow, but the sounds are meh right now. Hopefully placeholder. Statistics and achievements look sexy. |

I smell the end of the world. Minecraft's goal: Forget about current bugs. Add new crap with more bugs. |

Post subject: | Re: Minecraft weather |
What the hell? I entirely forgot to mention the lag in my post? Well, since MP will be broken entirely by the weather system, if my estimations are correct, the lag won't be too big an issue. |

Lightning strikes sand yet glass is not made, mojang fail. |

It's still a beta; give it time. Looking at Mojang's track record, you can't expect too much. The fact that they HAVE any weather whatsoever is a miracle in itself, and whatever bugs may arise you can bet your donkey they won't get fixed. And come on, it's Notch in charge here. It's a surprise anything is doing well at all. |

I'm especially a fan of "distance dove". I'm not sure exactly what it refers to (skydiving, underwater diving, etc.), but I get the feeling Respawn and I will become very close friends. |

'Respawn' ? |

Post subject: | Re: Minecraft weather |
Yep, I suppose someone will be respawning a lot lol I'd prefer to dive into water though ![]() Time to dig all the way till bedrock and make a pool down there then jump from the tallest tower AND on a pig <3 |

Evidently you don't play Beta enough/poorly. There's a little button you press in Beta when you die, and it respawns you at wherever your spawn is.

Nobody never dies. Have you ever played Beta? Even the grass can kill you in fourteen interesting flavors. |

I hope there won't be statistics for MP, Hit_Girl would just go on a killing spree. I actually like the rain sound effects, remind me of SimCity 2000. I do hope that when it snows, a thin layer of snow will be added on any given surface and that eventually ice and snow will melt. |

I can confirm this. I think we need an anti Hit_Girl plugin. ![]() ![]() |

Maybe we could have limited PvP? Like you can do 50 hearts of damage to people who haven't attacked you first per day? |

Post subject: | Re: Minecraft weather |
Or some sort of PvP ranking system that intelligently adjusts damage based on your KDR and your KPM. This sounds infinitely more interesting than fucking around with PailStone. ![]() |

Post subject: | Re: Minecraft weather |
Nice idea Haf, an handicaping system would be a must to avoid abusers. For example, killing the same person consecutively will greatly decrease the dmg, so there won't be that many diamond "knights" slaying noobs with a wood stick over and over again ![]() |

But would it effect mobs? What if it only affected mob combat in a positive way (i.e. total combat teetotalers could get a bonus when fighting off that pesky spider), somewhat like leveling in Oblivion or something? Would it only be affected by/effect PvP?

No leveling, just a pvp balancer I think. |

Post subject: | Re: Minecraft weather |
Leveling leads to stat farming, which would ruin the system since people would probably kill excessively. =( |
