I'm not to sure about being the oldest living one, Honoluluboy might have you beat, but as far as the oldest active one? Probably so.

Welcome to SpA, though you've been on the server a while anyway :P

Welcome to the forums. This is the place where the madmen congregate and the SpA Team Fortress 2 players dislike the Minecrafters.

It's a lovely place, and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay!

Happy posting!

Does that mean the minecrafters who play TF2 hate themselves?

Just as a quick note, if your son is rather young (as in, under 12-13) you might want to keep him from the SpA servers as a lot of swearing and dirty things can go on there.

Where in the Internet do you NOT find swearing and dirty things?

It's pretty easy to shield someone from that on Freebuild.

Oh, you know what I mean. It is impossible to keep something censored forever, and if you simply want your kids to not hear something because you think it's bad for their development it's the exact opposite. Better that they understand how stupid those things are nice and early before they get wrong ideas in the future.

I know I can't really use the "know from experience" tactic from the parent POV, but I can definitely say that in my childhood I was exposed to a great number of things by my parents, television, school and the world in general. But I don't drink, I don't smoke and I'm not a douchebag. At least, I'm not a douchebag most of the time.

In any case, smothering someone with censorship, in my opinion, is going to do worse things for their development.

But why the fuck am I discussing this here? *cuts of needless discussion in a "I'm this person!" thread*

I'm not saying Shank should do any kind of censoring, but nudging your kid to play on the SpA servers is pretty mcuh actively exposing your kid to those kinds of things.
I can understand not turning away from a tv channel when someone swears and your kid is watching, but that's different from suggesting to your kid he should watch Pulp Fiction (a film where you know of contains a lot of swearing).
It's the difference between active exposure and coincidental exposure.
Also I'm not trying to tell him how to raise his kid. If it doesn't bother him that the SpA servers are quite mature then by all means let his child play on them.
I'm just telling him how people communicate on our servers in case he doesn't want his son (?) to be exposed to it.

Fair enough. And Pulp Fiction?

Nice work :D

The good thing is, he's comfortable with talking to you. I'm still rather introverted in some things and find it hard to discuss them. The world is a bitch like that.

Anyway, welcome to SpA's forums (once again), and welcome to the safety dance. :4
