Not many really Spike :(

Probably about 1 or 2 of them.
Did they just stop playing, or were they among those who decided to backstab SpA ?

A bit of both really, some people just got bored of minecraft and went to other things.
Others went to fCraft and some come between both.

I'm a bit disappointed with those who went over to fcraft.... I would have rather seen them leave minecraft completely, to be honest.

I'm sorta still around a bit, mostly fCraft, though I'll probably try the Battlefield SMP thing.

You were banned the day I joined. I'm somewhat disappointed in those who didn't leave (namely Don) for the same reason- they left their community. The server doesn't matter. Its those who play on it that do, and if its time to move, so that we can get a better deal out of it all (Fragmer contending to us directly, no random TF2 community that makes fun of us in charge), then so be it. The whole drama with the higher ups that caused this I don't understand, or care about, it doesn't matter anyway. Besides, I can't read enough onto either side to chose who is "right", in the situation.

Almost everyone changed servers, and those that didn't immediately were left with very little choice, stay at an empty server that dwindles at the bottom under lack of management, or join the new fCraft server with everyone at it, more management and development than before, and stuff like that. Had you been a random op, what would you have done?

Post subject:  Re: News of our death...

I don't think so. This is SpA - that can not be changed. The people here come and go, but it is the same community, just with different members. fCraft's server is a good one, I'm not saying it isn't. Some people just prefer one or the other. But something that I think is important for people to know is to not pick sides. This isn't a war between two servers. A few people just left, and a lot of people decided to follow them. I chose to stay here because most people were "moving" to fCraft. That server is doing fine, it doesn't need my help as much as this one does.

As for the TF2 comment, they were here before the Minecraft server, and they can make fun of whoever they want. It's the internet. As far as them being in charge, I wouldn't go and say that. They certainly have more power and influence in the community, but that should be expected, since they've been around much longer than the Minecraft community, as well as the fact that the majority of gameplay that happens is on TF2, so that is more important than the Minecraft server. Keep in mind, though, that doesn't mean the Minecraft server and community don't matter, because they do. The TF2 community is a larger part of the entire SpA community, so it should be more important.

Again, this shouldn't be about picking sides. To be quite honest, there shouldn't even be sides to begin with. That started as people who didn't know what they were talking about spouting rumors and trash about the opposite side - and since most people migrated to fCraft, most of it was directed at SpA.

It's the community that matters. And if the "server doesn't matter" your words, then why does it matter if it is a server that dwindles at the bottom or one that is big and brand new purely through deceitful and unscrupulous means. The last part of your comment was just a plug for fCraft, f standing for futile. :18

SPA.MINECRAFT is not dead. There are many who seem to be hanging on who are active at fcraft and their own home desktop servers. When if fcraft manages to port the necessary plugins to function with fcraft, I suspect the few remaining kiddies will migrate also.

From what I understand, fcraft, being written in c++ is a far better choice than java, BUT also being non java lacks the huge plugin collection the java servers can use.

With a good base, and a good plan, it will happen. We will again see nights with 28 people online at one time.

As for the migratory foul... I honestly no longer trust most of them, never knew many others to have trust. Some I did trust turned out to be griefers and thieves. Good riddance I say.

my 2 cents.

Post subject:  Re: News of our death...

And there are those of us, with the exception of illness keeping me down, we have been here and are glad we stayed and looking forward now to the move to the new SpA world.

I went to fcraft, it was a lawless temp map, yeah, the usual for a temp map, so not impressed, perhaps when they get it going it will be more. But the main reason I haven't gone back is a total lack of community I felt. But lol, maybe on SpA I am the main (only one at times?) who says hi, but a good few will say hi back and interact. On fcraft that didnt happen. All but one ignored me, and she only gave me a short one word answer as she ran by.... No?... lol made me feel sooo welcomed.

Howard has the right idea about making new comers feel a part right from the beginning, it will go a long way toward keeping players returning and investing in the server, either time or money, or both.

I keep seeing this argument pop up and it's really starting to annoy me. The ones who "left their community" are the ones who left, not the ones who stayed.

The mass migration is a mess of "Can I live with you?" 8-13 year old children who became groupies of some of the other older people, who apparently wear trench coats all year long. Creepier than creepers.

There are people who left who I will miss. Others not so much.

I think the point Rob was making, is that the creepy community left and Don didn't leave with them, being less creepy and all.

A community still remains, though small it is still a community; so Don never left The Community, the only one which matters here on SPA. Quality over quantity?

I'm glad someone else shares my sex offender observation of those "older people". There MC server is a big rusty van with the words "Free Kandy" scratched on the side by sharp nails and innocent tears. I jest

A similar point can be made of those who prefer SpA, a selection of oppurtunistic power hungry pre-teens who seek to take their chance of being one of those older people which they in their eyes did not have when the need for staff was not so high.

Seriously, I trust you all take the sincerity of "those who stayed" with a hint of salt. I don't know if that is an english expression.

Oh for fuck sake can we give this a rest? There are two servers now, no one gives a piss which one you regular. The people who have stayed here have just been logging onto the same server as they were before, good for you guys but can you stop looking down on people on fcraft as traitors. People who have moved onto fcraft fair doos to them, it was a big move over, but can you stop spewing shit here. Flaring up the situation is not helping either server. I mean you're at each others throats for making a hard decision, and whining that was different to your own, if you truly believe that you are correct, and everyone on the other server is an idiot then you need to pull your fat head out of your arse.

You know this whole thing reminds me of the good ol' console wars... "This one is better cause it has this feature!" "This one sucks!" "This one is the best, people who buy the others suck!" Just choose what you want and let the others decide what they want and shut up about it. It's opinions, no need to hate on someone because he plays on another server. It's just childish. (Coming from me you know there's a problem)

The crying bitches, you may notice, are predominately those on "the other server" and yet still feel compelled somehow to occupy space on SPA forum. "The other server" have their own forum. Shall we have a ROAD TRIP !! LOL Naw... SPA is entertaining enough. Don't need to go view color crayon scribbles on the kitchen wall.

To those who have a problem with other peoples posts? Kindly bugger off hey, the point of a forum is posting. The posts (except of those from "the other server" people) haven't flamed any individual, just a general humor those dearly departed souls.

Besides... those on "the other server" are easy targets and provide hours of humorous conversation.

That's enough, completely ignored what I said in that post, it wasn't a "hey everyone try and squeeze in the last word and look dead clever" maybe you like throwing fuel on a delicate situation, but some of us just want to get on with things, and keep things as friendly as possible, not throw childish insults at eachother.

I wish people would get it right. I don't see any fighting or arguing, which take 2 to do. Comments, statements, discussion, observations, communication... none of which are fighting or arguing. No debate I've seen, which could loosely be described as argument in the purely philosophical, mathematical sense.
