Chargin Targe only deals impact damage on the very end of the charge, if you hit someone before that, no damage done.

The new shield should deal impact damage regardless of the charge distance. If there is no rampup for the damage (e.g. it will deal the approximate 70 DMG even on the shortest distance), it will be very OP I guess!

I guess I'll be playing o lot of demoknight and tommy heavy after the update! :)

Everything in this update seems to becomming together very nicely, some great weapons have been realsed, and for anyone who cries OP at ANY of these weapons, wait until you play the game, the rule to survival is it adapt. :)

Saying that meele only demomen, I think for a few days scouts are going to have a field day, and that sniper rifle doesn't appeal to me, I can only bearly headshot people as it is. :( Those scout weapons were a nice find though, thanks for the infomation :D, are we going to have people complaining about a FaN with no kickback? Also makes the crit-a-cola redundent, which is a shame, although hardly anyone ever used it. :(

Some of these weapons are actually fun, and worth swapping with the og stuff more so that any of the polycount stuff. If you can't headshot, use the Sydney sleeper ^^

Demoknights still have the disadvantage of not having a sticky launcher thou, so that will always be a fundamental balance change.

With that whole set they have no ranged weaponary at all, so it will be a grave disadvantage. :)

Yeah well proper demoknighting is not only about the sword. You need the grenade launcher to at least weaken the enemies and then finish them with the sword. :4
What I like most about demoknighting is collecting heads + the respective speed and health bonus. You can survive A LOT when you get to 5 heads... :mrgreen:
But running around with just the sword won't be so effective, IMO. It won't even give you the HP and speed buff for killing, I presume. :roll:

Wow, these are shaping up to be some of the most powerful unlocks valve's ever released, and i seriously can't wait to get my hands on that demo pack, demoknights which recharge the shield twice as fast, deal the impact damage at any range and have a good health advantage since they can use fallen weapons and ammo packs as medkits :twisted:. shame the only options with it are a grenade launcher which can only be reloaded at respawn cabinates (and maybe dispencers) or no ranged capability at all. :cry:

And the Scout pack seems like a blatent upgrade to most of the scouts usual equipment :?

Edit: and wow, demoknights are going to be even more overpowered in medievil, well there goes that gamemode :cry:

The comunity seems to have chosen a name for this new monstrosity, demorabian.

So now we got;
Demoknight (targe + Eyelander)
Demobeserker (targe + Skullcutter)
Demorai (targe + Samurai sword)
Demorist (targe + caber)
Demorabian (screen + boots + persuader)

although i can easily see the screen replacing the targe in pretty much all these combos.

I kinda miss good old demo, hes been seriouly overlooked in the weapons deparment :cry:

Edit: hmmm, just noticed that theres no name for the Targe + pain train combo, now what do we call him? :?

I never liked medevil anyways, there wasn't enough difference from the other game modes, they just force you to use meele weapons which is never down to skill who wins with one of them :( Besides the demoman set gets a +25 health boost, i think he'll be able to survive alot, along with those resistences, dont think just because he hasn't got any ranged capablities he is not a threat, look at bufflo sandvich heavies, thats slightly scary comming towards you. :D

people always moan about updates, but if it wasn't for updates, this game would have died years ago. If people don't like the new stuff, they can go to vanilla servers, or have cfg's setup for competitive games that only allow the core equipment. To be fair, only a few items have every actually made improvements or changed the game, dead ringer, huntsman etc, the vanilla set usual trumps the new stuff anyway.
