Post subject:  What am i doing wrong?
So i recently got a residence and i placed a subzone for someone to rent. So as a test before screwing up with someones money, i asked Frimple to buy my rental.
He did and it seemed all right, until he went to go place stuff. Neither me or him could edit the subzone. The error message we both got was "Cannot modify a rented residence"

Now i understand that for the residence owner, but shouldnt the person who bought it have rights to move stuff. As of right now Frimple's flags are [+admin +container +use +build +move]

What is wrong here lol

you need to have the tag +place to place blocks

The issue is that, although this was not made clear in the documentation for Residence, if you rent out a part of your build, it remains untouchable for the person who rents it. The only way to get around this is to give them build rights to your entire Residence.

Essentially you have to think of it like real-world renting. You don't rent an apartment and start knocking through walls...

i understand i cant edit it, but poor frimple cant even hang up a painting???

No. its a bit of a let down. Rented property is entirely "as is" :(

your best option is to give them control of the subzone with build and destroy and container and use and then manage the renting by just recording who owes what and when

Oddly enough, this has now changed! Residence has moved up to Bukkit 1000 and has had this feature added. Rented homes can now be edited by the person renting them. :4
