We have fixed the crash related to the mantreads. (We also found a problem with the damage calculation.) The problem was gcc-specific and thus only affected Linux servers. We are mostly sure (though not 100% sure) that a similar problem was happening with the Dr. G weapons.

This update will probably be an optional update, since it isn't critical for clients. But of course all the server operators will want to make sure and get it.

Further bulletins as events warrant.

Your humble servant,
Fletch

Crashes are still being reported, source of the crashes is unknown.

If anyone notices a server crash please inform us on:

What server you been playing on
If any special conditions applied (mapchange for example)
Time (ish) on when the crash occurred

Thanks

We have identified the cause of this spew. A short burst of such spew is probably OK, mountains of it could point to a problem with that type of entity. In this case, the spew helped us identify what we have a good degree of confidence is the actual cause of the Righteous Bison, and the very mysterious non-crash-reporting non-server-recovering crash. (Also could be a very rare problem for Pyro's, too.) We are working on a fix now. I cannot promise we will get a new build turned around this afternoon.

This *could* possibly be related to the crash on mapchange. However, there could be a different mapchange bug, too.

I have not seen any stack traces or dump files for the map change crash that were not filled with plugin module names. I am very interested in receiving them, if you have them.

We will release an optional update this afternoon.

It will fix the crash bug caused by the Righteous Bison.

It will also throttle the diagnostic spew about invalid positions / angles. We'll look at the specific types of entities causing the check to trigger and fix them to avoid it. The spew is alerting us to entities with suspicious positions / orientations, and helped us identify the crash.

I apologize, but it doesn't look like we will be releasing an update today. We want to make sure the cure isn't worse than the disease.

The update will hopefully be released tomorrow.
