At the moment it is still in the Beta stages but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for when they announce a DS.

If and when a dedicated server does become available, would anyone be interested if we were to have our own SpA server for Counterstrike Global Offensive?

Nerdish, tbh. (441)
in my opinion cs is dead. they've tried numerous times to revive it with condition zero, sauce and cs promod to mention a few.
let the community find their own servers first, then see if it comes up any requests for it and not waste money on it. (unless its being hosted on mrwhite or whatever u call these machines of urs now, and not use alot of resources :P)

Both CS and CSS still have more players than TF2 despite it being free to play so it can't be all that dead? I'm more than likely gonna buy the game so I'm for having a server

CSS is still very popular and it is indeed still bringing in more players than TF2. Still lots of updates for it too. For us to run our own DS it will not be at any extra cost. There is not much info about GO other than what I have already posted here. I shall keep you informed when I hear more.

Only do it, if it's not too much work. I personally don't need it, cause I stopped playing CS around beta 5.2, but if it's good for the community and easy to handle, you should do it. You can still kill it, if it's not working out.

I have never really liked CS games (because I suck at them) but I'l probably get round to buying and playing it some when so a SpA server up would be useful.

Might bring in new members, gungame or whatever the CS:S mod was called was awesome with all-talk on! I assume it will be made for this new one quite quickly.

I am pretty sure I will buy the new CS. Its a Valve game, and damn every Valve game is worth its money. So yes I would love a server after the release then. If its not impacting our costs and performance of the TF2 servers. I think they should have a priority.

Probably related to tuning the kill pay-offs, instead of something that players actually give a hoot about.

Gave the beta a go yesterday, things were very meh. Those who liked Source will probably dig it, those who love 1.6, not so much. :|

Should've grabbed one in december when they were handed out more willy-nilly (I didn't get one, but won a lottery on HLTV.org where they also handed out tons of keys)

Anyway, in case you didn't watch the CPH stream:
SK vs ESC

(this was prior to the updates dealing with the recoil and spread, they've made it a lot less random and CoD:ish since)

edit: oh yes, 1.6ers won over the CSS clowns. LOLOL

YES!! :4 :4 :4 :4 :4 :4
Quote:
Those who wish to test drive a dedicated server beta for the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta are free to do so. Valve has released a beta for the beta so you can get your beta on while playing the beta.

As these dedicated server files are still in their own beta, some features are missing. Features such as the MOTD will come in future updates but they are more interested to see feedback on setup, stability, and server management.

The dedicated server for CS:GO also feature a new method for delivery the server files to hosts, and for keeping them up to date. Interested parties must already be in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta in order to try the dedicated servers.
Any SpA members fancy managing the server?

If you let it run in Casual mode it would probably be close to completely autonomous (as far as in-game management goes). No TK:ing or even blocking (you pass through others), plus there's a new in-game menu for starting different votes (map change, votekick, even team scramble).

I'll be investigating the tech side of the CS:GO DS. (as soon as I got a key)

Need someone on it to make the rules for the game.
