Hello SpA people. An idea popped into my head whilst I was watching yogscast. I'm sure you've all heard of it. If not, here's a link http://yogscast.com/
Basically it's a bunch of guys talking about a bunch of games so I was wondering if anyone would like to help me build an official SpAcast.
It doesn't have to be a game that we run on our servers; we are a gaming community and we all play lots of different games, so I thought it would be nice for us all to explore those games we don't often play and share your fun.
Obviously the game servers that we do have will be a must which basically includes:
Minecraft
TeamFortress 2
Left4Dead2
Killing Floor
Killing Floor GunGame
and then there are the many other games that we all play together which we don't have servers for:
PayDay
Star Wars The Old Republic
League of Legends
Magicka
Borderlands
Dead Island
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
Alien Swarm
Dead Rising 2
Renegade Ops
Dungeon Defenders
Counter-Strike: Source
Portal 2
....the list is endless, that's just coming off my list of games that I've played with one or more people.
So if any of you are interested in doing this, volunteer yourselves here with which game/s you'd like to cast and maybe the people that are going to star in it
And don't think just because one person has volunteered to do a SpAcast for a game, that doesn't mean you can't do it too. You all play games with different strategies so the more the merrier, some could be funny, some serious, completely up to you.
If the SpAcasts become popular and you make lots of them, then the best ones can go on the SpA youtube account.
I look forward to seeing your casts
anna x

ooh yeah - we talked about a SpAcast a while back, but i think that dividing it up into specialised pieces for various games is a very cool way of doing it, means everyone gets in on something!
i'm sure i'll be the first of many, but i'm in for the tf2 cast; i'm sure that once we collate some ideas and get a headcount of who's in we can get something really cool going between everyone who's interested in contributing to the tf2 cast (anyone else who's interested should post here too, and we can work out a time to meet in mumble or something)

For minecraft we should do something for our PvP arenas. We have our eyes on a capture the flag plugin, we've got a colleseum, and I've done a map based on 2fort, so that would be interesting to do a cast on people fighting and speaking on mumble. As for tf2 we could do a review on the funmodes perhaps.
I'd be happy to do:
League of Legends
Realm of the Mad God
Just Cause 2
Portal
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning <---New Game
Crysis 2
Skyrim
Battlefield 3
Minecraft
Also, I have Terraria but I have never understood how to play it. So I would be a first timer on that.
I'm really open to anything as long as I have the game and if not I could probably get it.

I thin it would be a blast to do Realm of the Mad God, Minecraft, or Portal2. I am a total noob when it comes to LoL but I have played it too...
edit: I forgot about TF2, I'm not very good but I love to play

Cool idea, I'd be interested in doing some of these depending on who else is playing.
Games I actually have here:
Dungeon Defenders
Portal 2
Minecraft
TeamFortress 2
Left4Dead2
Realm of the Mad God
Where I'd definitely be interested in Dungeon Defenders, Realm of Mad God, Portal 2, and I guess minecraft I suck at tf2 and l4d2 haha. Oh and terraria too depending on who else would do it.
How would we organize this and figure out when people are playing and who is playing?

i think that there's some things that need to get straightened out first - namely, how we're all actually going to do it.
first off, screen capture. something like fraps. the most important bit, and yet the bit i'm least familiar with, sorry! so we need some suggestions - ideally, we're looking for something that records at a good resolution, is free, doesn't have watermarks and gives you a not-shit file type (like .mp4 or .wmv or something)
secondly, sound capture. for single-player gameplay, your fraps-or-whatever program might be enough to pick up your commentary anyway, so you don't have to worry too much about this bit. but for multiplayer/multi-commentator stuff, then going into mumble and hoping it works out can be problematic. case in point, our last highlander cast - fraps only picked up Zombie's commentary and missed mine. there might be workarounds, but best to err on the side of caution.
luckily, it's really easy to record audio in mumble. if you have the latest version, just hit the big red 'record' button, and everything that's said in the channel goes straight into an mp3 on your pc. easy!
if you want to make a private mumble channel so that people don't disturb you whilst recording, Pinky wrote this handy-dandy guide up:
Step 1: Create a forum account.
Step 2: Join the mumble server (specialattack.net, port 64738) with your Name being your forum account name (password = forum login password).
Step 3: Right-Click 'Temporary Channels", click "Add", Come up with an awesome channelname, Press ok.
Step 4: Right-click the channelname, press "Edit", go to the "ACL" tab.
Step 5: Click "Add" (another @all should pop up, select it if it doesn't auto-select), on the right ("Permissions") select the "Deny" option for "Enter".
Step 6: Click "Add" again, Select the dropdown next to "User ID" and select your teammate/the person you want to allow into your channel. Select the "Allow" Option next to "Enter".
Step 7: Repeat step 6 for anyone you want to allow into your channel and Press "Ok".
Step +9000: Profit.
if you want, you can also get something like Audacity recording in the background too. once set up + started, it records everything that you say into your microphone, so if some of it gets lost or distorted due to lag on mumble then you have this file as a backup, meaning you can patch over the original recording where needed. mumble alone is usually sufficient though
thirdly, video editing. my guess is that this will just have to be done with whatever video editor comes to hand. depending on what capture equipment you're using (what file it records in/exports as) and what you're doing with your audio, this might not even be necessary. for the sakes of stringing together a mumble recording and some gameplay footage, windows movie maker is probably sufficient. i know that me and a few others have some stuff like Sony Vegas; but if we want to be doing anything *that* fancy, or if windows free stuff doesn't cover the basics, then that's a bridge that we'll cross when we come to it.
so yeah. need to work out what video capture software we're using, and anything else i've missed out.

Ooh sounds great! Just to balance out things I'll volunteer with my female voice! Very busy this month at least, but would be happy do so something next month.
Would enjoy paring up with someone or will be quite happy to talk alone about games like assassins creed. Next one will be released at the end of the year, but can talk about the older ones too.. Given that someone here loves assassins creed as me and is willing to listen hahah
But yeah with xsplit you can do live streams which is also fun so could have people watching as you make it. We could have a SpA stream channel where whoever is casting can do it so people only need to follow one page on twitch.
