Does Minecraft or something... (1323)

He's not making money off of it, and he's not saying it's his own, nor is he generating a user base from it by claiming it is his own, also, it's not the original copy of the game, it has had modifications to it which kinda makes it not Minecraft anymore (technically). 100% legal (at least in the US).

Besides, I am sure Mojang doesn't mind.

*cough*Clean .jar for people who don't use OptiFine*cough*

No regardless if it's modded or if he's not making money off it etc, he's not allowed to distribute it.

Modding it still makes it 100% Mojang's.

I don't really care that he's doing so, it's just you can't make such statements without having stuff backing it up.

And you know, it's still illegal.

Illegal how? Not like anyone can do much with it like join servers, theres probabally over 1 million copies over the internet and frank posted it here for those who did update.

Imo 100% legal.

Would you rather have SMP die or have those who bought the game (And know how to downgrade with this) downgrade and join us?

Jonesy, Your oppinion isn't the decider for it being legal or not...

This is a quote from the minecraft site itself-
Mojang wrote:
Do not distribute anything we've made. This includes, but not limited to, the client or the server software for the game. This also includes modified versions of anything we've made.
Therefore this is illegal. End of story

Not even vaguely illegal.

Not even in a funny sense.

Stop it.

Why argue, when you can get a clean 1.3.2 jar right from the website!

http://assets.minecraft.net/1_3_2/minecraft.jar

Or a clean 1.3.1!

http://assets.minecraft.net/1_3_1/minecraft.jar

Or, If you're feeling really extravagant, get 1.2.5!

http://assets.minecraft.net/1_2_5/minecraft.jar
