Post subject:  Contest Suggestion!
Hi all!!
I was thinking about Freebuild the other day and was like wouldn't it be cool if SMP adopted the building contest. Playing build according to a theme, but to make it a bit more challenging, they'd have to make their own supplies to build. Like wool,wood, etc... The winner would then win a special rank or get a cool item. Just a suggestion btw.

I don't see how it would be fair if I didn't have the same
Items as the other builders have. Just my opinion though. Also where would this be held? We would have to build a area.. Laziness ontop of laziness.

oh..so lets say we have an animal sculpture contest. You can only build with wool, we'll have zones for each player so no one griefs/steals wool. We wouldn't need to build an area, just have a large area full of gracious grass, and some signs telling you the guidelines.

So from this i'm getting that all the required items would be spawned in via supops+ and that this would be set in a open area. Okay And zones will be put in place (if possible) to prevent grief. Thinking of advertising what way could we get this out to people?

Perhaps. Not up to me though, like I told you before, i'm just gonna make you work you arse off getting this idea :) The big corporate boys and girls handle this stuff :P

Perhaps this would work better if we had a CMP server. It would be much easier that way. Rewards would include a temp rank on SMP sorta like [C] worked. Just an idea...

We've said no to a CMP server about 10 times now, don't think that it'll work now.

Hey, I'm bringing this idea up so we can get some people to return to the server...if you haven't noticed there all gone. We have 4-7 people on(could be time zone) and this could boost our rating.

That and I'm not going to play on a temp map server for 3 months then just have a new "main" map only last for a month, then have another update come out and put us back on temp maps.

alright Halex its on!! haha. So lets say you needed to make your structure with ONLY wool, we'd provide a valley, or fenced in area full of sheep and 1-2 pairs of shears for all the participants. If the theme was Wood only, we'd provide a forest full of trees. The whole lot! (got that line from harry potter :3) Thats how the "Supops" would provide supplies. This idea isn't just for the temp, this could be used in towny.

Who ever said this idea would only be for a temp map? I don't recall reading that anywhere. Just sayin. Plus, I'm too lazy to go and grow a forest of trees or breed some sheeps. I'd yell at Jonesy or ask Mbl nicely first. :)

Breed Sheep?!? We're not in 1896, Supops have access to creative mode, don't they? In creative you have sheep 'eggs'...are you getting my drift. As for trees, whats so hard about 'spamming' saps in a large area and using bone meal, which can all be supplied from creative mode. As for the temp map thingy...

If in creative mode, save they trouble and just give them the damn shit. That's how I see it. Last time I checked Creative mode was a no no. This is why you would have to bring it up with someone who is a higher rank them me, as I don't make the decisions.. I just influence em :) And this could all easily be build on any map that we have.

Umm..Whats so hard about making a large pen and throwing sheep eggs into it? Same with placing saps and placing bone meal? If there is a rule, how could this harm it?

Dear Supop+,
This idea would be like a mini-game inside a game. A challenging building game in Survival Minecraft, this could also be an advantage to find talented people that could help when making future spawns in future maps. I know I'm still on thin ice with my griefing act, but if this was passed by the SpA Congress, I'd help make this campground for the contest. Maybe instead of you doing the work, I could...you know find a few people to help build a contest area. Or you guys could do it, I just think this could be a great advantage to the server.

I think if people in the contest sourced their own materials, it'd make it more impressive than if they were given stuff.
Forces them to puts more thought and/or dedication into their build.

Yes that would show their true skill, how about using the sheep and forest as complementary supplies?

^This. Any old bloke can make something with creative mode. Whoever can make the most impressive build whilst dealing with the slow smp grind of raising sheep!

Once we get a new map (IT WONT BE FOR 1.6) we could do something like this. Everyone gets a month or so to build a structure for this comp. I figure a new map would be the best place to start as it would have everyone on a level playing field

...idk who bumped this...I wrote this back in march. Since I'm no longer apart of the smp team and just a uhc guest I abandoned it. If you want me to continue, I surely wouldn't mind.
