Hey,
since we have not had UHC in ages how about we spin it up a bit and do something like.. Race for the Moon? Two or three teams with 3 - 4 people each (depends on the amount of people) race for who reaches the moon first in Galacticraft. Simple modpack setup with 1.7.10 + GC + NEI (+ some clientside mods) possibly? It can be won in 4 hours just fine =). Ofc no PVP and not hardcore, but hard (no natural regen etc).

Any opinions?

Take into consideration the average mod knowledge of the common folk.
I'd rather have a collaboration 'mission', such as "kill the Ender Dragon". That seems a bit "easy", but still...

I'd very much like another UHC myself. Just... Not an excessively competitty competitive one.

Seems even with peoples average mod knowledge it seems like a pretty easy goal. Maybe if you also had to have a space station and make it to the moon.

This sounds like a cool idea.

As for people having limited knowledge, a quick google will always give you a plethora of information regarding the subject.

We should be able to offer a private download with a ZIP containing all the required files, all that'd be required is for the players to install forge? (I think thats how it works... Not too sure)

Are there flags? I feel like planting a flag should be the win condition :p

You can actually design your own flag in game if a remember correctly. I think it would also be cool if we had a contest on the best designed flag as well.

Yes, planting a flag would be the final goal.

If somebody does not know how mods work we can assign people who know modded MC as "captains" and then randomly assign the rest?

I could always talk to RyanTheAllmighty and make a private pack on ATLauncher and give everybody who will be joining a code for it :P

Seconded. My knowledge of modded minecraft is not very good or up to date for that matter. But I would gladly join in something like this.

Awesome, I have thrown together a small modpack with Galacticraft + NEI + InventoryTweaks + MouseTweaks + (optional? fancy mods like Tails, OPIS map etc :P ). Will be sending it to ATLauncher as (semi)private pack this weekend. Then we can set up the date for the actual Race to the Moon!

How will we decide the team captains and such?

Post subject:  Re: Not so UHC

Depends on how many people will join - 3 or 4 people per team is the max. I am testing it in SSP how fast can I do it and I am, after an hour, about 30% on my way to finish the rocket. Faster than I thought!

// update
So I've managed to get the rocket and plant a flag on the Moon, by MC stats, in 3.67 hours... Note that I was playing it myself, enabled Magnet mode (= items fly towards you) and on Normal difficulty, no deaths though. Should be reasonable then!
And it should run even on 2GB RAM PCs just fine, assigned 1GB to Java and had zero problems.
